The Anesthesia Technician Lead assists the anesthesia care providers in anesthesia administration, by preparing, using and maintaining equipment and providing supplies and medications. Oversees supply acquisitions, restocking anesthesia carts and areas. Assures anesthesia machines are set-up and calibrated for all anesthesia areas. Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices, anesthesia delivery systems and performs safety checks on the machines. Provides orientation for new/junior technicians. Also provides in services for anesthesia techs on new technology, equipment and supplies.
GENERAL DUTIES
Provides anesthesia technician services to patients under the supervision of a licensed anesthesia care provider.
Monitors anesthesia machines, set-ups, and supplies to assure set-ups are complete and supplies available for assigned procedures, rooms, or anesthetizing location.
Cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, orders, maintains routine anesthesia equipment and supplies. Cleans, organizes and maintains anesthesia workroom.
Orders anesthesia supplies, stocks workroom and assures all anesthesia areas are stocked. Oversees cleaning and restocking anesthesia carts and equipment after each use.
Maintains anesthesia medications according to facility's needs.
Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre, intra and post anesthesia, while taking into consideration age-specific issues.
Performs basic troubleshooting for monitors and equipment. Reports defective equipment and malfunctions to appropriate staff.
Documents preventative maintenance and preserves quality records.
Coordinates the flow of supplies, equipment, and instruments between all anesthesia sites and personnel.
Assists with transport of patients, laboratory specimens and travels between facilities or other treatment locations.
Builds and maintains effective working relationships with anesthesia department staff, works collaboratively with nursing staff, service and equipment technicians.
Maintains quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Adheres to hospital and department level policies and procedures and safeguards the hospital's assets.
Trains new anesthesia technicians and monitors performance.
