Job Description Summary:
The Anesthesia Technician will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining equipment and assisting with patient care for Anesthesia and Perioperative Services, including all equipment and supplies to facilitate age-specific patient care. The Anesthesia Technician will perform delegated and scheduled duties consistent with department policies. Under the supervision of the Clinical Manger, is responsible for assigned shift. The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.ResponsibilitiesMaintain, and clean equipment including but not limited to, anesthesia machines, thermal units, hotline units, active warming units, surgical tables, O2 tanks, and anesthesia carts in the OR, L&D, ER, GI, EP, and MRI.
Change soda lime canisters as directed by Anesthesia personnel.
Change anesthesia circuits as directed and supervised by Anesthesia personnel.
Troubleshoot all anesthesia machines.
Identifies and transports patients throughout the perioperative process as needed.
Assists Anesthesiologists and/or CRNAs in regional blocks as indicated in OR, POU, and PAU.
Assists in preoperative or intraoperative positioning and lifting of patients, according to the age-specific needs of patients.
Demonstrates responsibility for assigned area ensuring the availability of equipment.
Monitor equipment, maintenance of Anesthesia machines, monitors, thermal units and other monitoring equipment.
Stock medications as specific for anesthesia such as, but not limited to, inhalation agents and certain medications kept in the refrigerator in the workroom.
Assist in difficult intubation cases.
Setup Cardiac output monitor.
Dress in proper surgical attire.
Responsible for maintaining a professional demeanor with the supervisor and colleagues.
Adheres to Jackson Madison County General Hospital policies and procedures.
Develops and maintains a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department and hospital.
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed and greets guest in accordance with our Guest Excellence principles.
EDUCATION: Knowledge of aseptic techniques and the anesthesia process. Ability to read and write, understand and follow oral and written directions, perform basic arithmetic as acquired through high school graduation or the equivalent.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: Recommended to obtain certification for Anesthesia Technician
EXPERIENCE: Experience and knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures, hospital locations and body mechanics.
