Responsibilities
Provides the anesthesia department with clean equipment, ample supplies, and assistance in the insertion of invasive monitoring devices. The Anesthesia Technician Lead is a point of contact for all anesthesia technicians and assists physicians and other medical/surgical support staff in conducting activities necessary for patient assessment/treatment/anesthesia intervention, physiological monitoring and direct patient care. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Must be able to multitask and adapt to unpredictable situations. Responsible for providing assistance to the anesthesia tech manager with scheduling, appraisals, policy and procedures, orientation of new staff/students, implementing new programs, and leading by example.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or Anesthesia Technologist Certification (preferred). EMT and/or Paramedic Experience (preferred).
EXPERIENCE: Basic principles of invasive monitoring lines and needed monitors in-depth knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring and proper body mechanics. Knowledge of medical terminology and general hospital/clinic procedures.COMPETENCY: Displays knowledge of aseptic technique. Demonstrates proficiency in preparation of invasive lines. Demonstrates knowledge of preparation of anesthesia machines. Properly stocks the Anesthesia/Pharmacy carts with drugs and supplies. Demonstrates knowledge of safety principles related to patient transport.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Requires strong human relation and communication skills to interact with patients, physicians and other surgical personnel. Must be able to operate, troubleshoot and maintain the following equipment: ECG and pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, C02 monitors and automated blood pressure monitors. ADDL CONSIDERATIONS: Communicates effectively with anesthesia/OR staff. Organizes well with attention to detail. Works as a team member. Walks, stands most of the working day and exposure to biohazardous waste and x-ray.
