Anesthesia Technician

**Job Description:**
This position provides assistance to the anesthesia department by preparing medications, stocking, ordering, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and stocking supplies. This position is responsible for monitoring quality control and operation of equipment. The incumbent is responsible for transporting patient to and from the O.R., handling routine tasks related to patient care, and organizing equipment.

+ **Pay Details:** $18.66/hour + depending on experience

+ **Shift Details:** Part-time, 20 hours/week. Monday - Friday. Shifts can be scheduled between 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Job Essentials
+ Checks all equipment for functionality and reliability. Completes regularly scheduled inspections.
+ Maintains inventory of anesthesia supplies and stocks supply carts.
+ Prepares equipment and supplies specific to each procedure.
+ Assists Anesthesiologist in preparing patient for anesthesia.
+ After procedure, is responsible for collection, cleaning, and appropriate processing of contaminated anesthesia equipment.
+ Cleans and sterilizes all equipment, environment, and instrumentation on a daily basis using appropriate sterilization methods.
+ Transports patients and assists with OR room turnover (clean up and preparation) as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
+ High School diploma or GED in compliance with CLIA regulations (required for employees who perform non-waived, moderate complexity testing - iSTAT and Bleeding Time).
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
+ Experience with email and internet.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Healthcare experience.
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, sterile indicator tags, colors, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
+ Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
+ Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment and instruments with precision and accuracy. This includes computer use and typing for documentation, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
+ Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
+ Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
+ May be expected to stand in a stationary position with personal protective equipment for an extended period of time.
