Job Summary:
To clean, prepare for sterilization, assemble, store & dispense & maintain equipment & supplies for the anesthesia department. Assists in direct patient care under direct supervision of physicians or allied health personnel.

- Upholds KPs Policies & Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities & applicable state, federal & local laws
- Assembles basic anesthesia set up
- Assembles basic anesthesia equipment & turnover
- Provides supplies needed for general/regional anesthesia
- Prepares anesthesia procedure trays as requested
- Removes & disposes all supplies & equipment following procedures performed by anesthesia providers
- Maintains adequate stock of supplies in anesthesia machines & carts, including rotation & replacement of dated items
- Maintains adequate stock of supplies in emergency code blue boxes, malignant hyperthermia carts, difficult intubation carts, invasive monitoring carts & regional anesthesia carts as listed on cart inventory
- Performs cleaning, sterilization & decontamination of all non-disposable anesthesia related items
- Coordinates patient monitoring & equipment availability w/ PACU & Critical Care Units
- Assists w/ set-up of invasive monitoring equipment in routine & emergency situations, arterial line, central venous pressure line, Swan-Ganz, cardiac output, fiber optic intubation & regional nerve block
- Assists w/ patient transport to the operating room, including placement of the patient on the OR table & non-invasive monitors (NIBP, EKG, SpO2 temperature)
- Assists in direct patient care under direct supervision in routine & emergency situations, arterial line, central venous pressure line, Swan-Ganz, cardiac output, fiber optic intubation & regional nerve block
- Assists anesthesia provider w/ induction of anesthesia, including cricoid pressure for intubation as directed
- Picks up & delivers lab specimens, ABGs etc
- Assists w/ patient transport to PACU/ICU including preparation of oxygen source & transport monitors
- Coordinates w/ Environmental Services for prompt operating room turnaround time
- Coordinates w/ Pharmacy to maintain stock, return & replace all outdated items except controlled drugs
- Prepares & processes all anesthesia-related items that require disinfection, decontamination & sterilization
- Coordinates w/ Unit Manager to maintain & revise inventory par levels for all supplies & equipment
- Inspects instruments & equipment for damage & initiates appropriate repair & replacement process
- Ensures availability of backup monitoring equipment at all times & provides timely replacement as needed
- Maintains records & documentation of equipment quality checks performed in the department
- Participates in the orientation & training of new employees
- Promotes, ensures & improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent w/ the organizations philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations & quality service
- Assume other activities & responsibilities from time to time as directed

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
• One (1) year recent experience as an Anesthesia Technician, Central Service Technician or Instrument Technician required
• Basic computer ability required
• Must be able to lift 45 lbs from an overhead position
• Must be able to stand or walk continuously
