Anesthesia Technician - ST
The Anesthesia Technician performs a variety of technicaland supportive patient care tasks to assist attending anesthesiologists,residents and nurse anesthetists in performing anesthetic procedures forpatients ranging from infancy to geriatrics. Additionally, performs routine anddelegated duties according to departmental policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Consults operating room schedule to determine supply andequipment needs for procedures; prepare anesthetizing locations for indicatedprocedure to include setting up and calibrating monitoring devices;troubleshoot anesthesia equipment malfunctions, routing non-functionalequipment to the proper department for repair + Assists anesthesia providers using aseptic or steriletechniques with non-invasive and invasive patient procedures including peripheraland/or central intravenous and/or arterial line placement; airway managementtechniques including mask endotracheal and/or emergency methods and regionalanesthesia techniques + Assists anesthesia providers with physiological monitoringof patients notifying the anesthesia provider(s) of abnormal changes in vitalsigns and/or physical appearance of the patient. + Cleans anesthesia machines, monitors and equipment followingprocedures established by Infection Control + Stocks, maintains and obtains anesthesia supplies in allanesthetizing locations and as requested by the anesthesia providers + Assists with patient laboratory tests and results including,but not limited to, ABG’s, ACT’s and other point of care tests + Obtains blood products and pharmaceuticals assisting withpreparation and delivery + Maintains immediate availability to assist in routine andemergency procedures + May assume anesthesia technician charge role in managingdaily work schedule of anesthesia technicians and directing care to provide anefficient and safe environment + Assists the anesthesiologist with all anesthesia procedures;expediting patient flow through the perioperative area, maintaining patientsafety, and developing and maintaining external + (Patient, Surgeon) and internal (Anesthesiologist, staff)customer satisfaction + Responsible for set up, operation and maintenance ofspecialized equipment, including life support + Assists the Anesthesiologist with evaluation and monitoringof the patients during the perioperative phase + Assists in sterile or Isolation areas + Assists in radiology departments where anesthesia isadministered, MRI, ERCP, and Gastro + May be required to participate in “call” rotation forcontinuous Perioperative Support Technologists (PST) at night, on weekends, andholidays Minimum Requirements: + High School diploma or equivalent required + Certified anesthesia technician (Cer.A.T.) preferred and maybe required per state/contract + Medical or Science-based secondary education preferred + Graduate of an accredited program i.e. EMT, Paramedic, RT,or Anesthesia Technology (AT) program preferred + ACLS, EMT, Paramedic, RT, Medical, or prior HCA licensingpreferred + Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice + Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable + Current CPR if applicable + TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable + Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation) + Must meet all federal, state and local requirements + Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site + Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements + Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required + Computer proficiency required + Must be at least 18 years of age Benefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: + Competitive pay & weekly paychecks + Health, dental, vision, and life insurance + 401(k) savings plan + Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
