Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._ **Responsibilities:** Serves a technical expert in coordination of Anesthesia Technologists supporting all anesthesia technical and clinical operations for all anesthetizing locations under direction from leadership. Responsible for development and management of training program for anesthesia technical staff. Provides direction and assistance to shift supervisors and other specialty anesthesia technicians, and provides back up for Operations Leadership. Acts as liaison between Anesthesia Technologists and anesthesia providers. Serve as a Supervisor for Anesthesia Technical Services in the Pediatric and out-of-OR operating rooms. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Under limited direct supervision: 25% Directs daily work of assigned Pediatric and NORA Anesthesia Technologists and provides input to Operations Manager for process improvement on a continuous basis. Manages and controls overtime of staff per Department guidelines. Reviews and signs off on staff performance of end-of-day set-up. 20% Manages staff appropriately through transition for optimal implementation of change. Manages performance of personnel through coaching, disciplinary, performance improvement plans, and if necessary, termination. Completes annual performance appraisal process for all direct reports. Reviews the utilization of staff and distributes responsibilities to maximize performance and productivity. Participates with the department manager on the hiring/recruiting process. 10% Assists the Operations Manager and Chief Anesthesia Technologist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the in-service training program. Trains staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist in the Pediatric and out-of-OR locations 10% Establishes working relationships through positive communication and follow-up with nursing staff, medical staff, and departments. Meets with department heads and/or supervisors to review procedures and investigate problems in the Pediatric and NORA areas. 5% Develops and proposes more effective and efficient methods for workflow. 5% Participates in establishment of both short-term and long-term goals and objectives. Assists in the development, interpretation and administration of departmental policies. Provides input for the formulation of capital and operating budgets. 5% Investigates and follows through regarding complaints about service and reports findings to the Operations Manager. 5% Conducts daily report with incoming and outgoing transitioning shift supervisors; addresses daily fluctuation in volume and staffing according to established guidelines. 5% Instructs other technicians in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment. 5% Assists in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia. Communicates with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs and anesthesia technologists to ensure their needs are met throughout the day. Assists clinicians with difficult intubations and the placement of central line catheters. Operates the cell-saver machine, keep track of lab reports, and participate in cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, trauma, and other advanced surgical cases. Provides on-call coverage. 5% Performs anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting. Works with other hospital units to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment. QUALIFICATIONS: A four-year college education, including related technical training; or a two-year college education which included technical training closely related to this position and two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification by the registry of the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists or other nationally recognized professional certifying body preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Walking, prolonged standing of 8 hours or more, lifting at least 40 pounds and moving heavy equipment. HAZARDS: Inhalation of trace anesthesia gases. May come in contact with body fluids. High Pressure Gases, Electrical Hazard, Cleaning Agents, Laser / Ultraviolet / Diagnostic Radiation. OTHER: This position has occasional patient contact.
