Job Description:

Responsible for completing Angiography procedures, scrubbing, setting techniques, and taking images.

Job Essentials

Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.

Prepares patients for exam using appropriate body mechanics.

Identifies proper exams based on patient need and utilizes correct exam techniques.

Produces quality images through the appropriate operation of equipment/instrumentation.

Follows proper patient identification protocols.

Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.

Maintains work area and stocks needed supplies.

Transports patients as needed.

Develops specific knowledge with regard to invasive, diagnostic and interventional supplies, appropriate indications and applications, and proper use and deployment techniques.

At the end of the procedure, may apply closure device, suture the sheath in place, or remove the sheath and apply pressure to obtain hemostasis.

Understands and applies principles of x-ray generation and safety. Understands and demonstrates the correct operation of imaging equipment.

Provides patient education, as needed and assures patient comfort.

Provides procedural assistance as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech, according to Angio lab policies and procedures and Scope of Practice documents.



Minimum Qualifications

ARRT Registration.

State of Utah Rad Tech License.

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

1 year of vascular or interventional experience.

Vascular/Interventional radiography certification - OR - one year of Angio/Interventional experience.


Preferred Qualifications

ACLS or PALS certification.

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- and -
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- and -
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- and -
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
