**Animal Care Technician** Laboratory Atlanta, GA, US Pay Rate Low: 19 | Pay Rate High: 19 + Added - 10/01/2025 Apply for Job **Animal Care Technician** **Terms** : Contract to Hire **Pay** : $19/hr **Schedule:** 730am -4pm either Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday (Needs to be open to either) **Location/Worksite:** Marietta Georgia 30064 An ideal candidate would have husbandry experience, a desire to work in a research environment, a good work ethic, and be content providing care for the animals on study. We have struggled a bit with people who come in as experienced vet techs quickly becoming dissatisfied with cleaning cages. A candidate with large animal experience, rodent experience, or research experience is a plus. **Animal Care Technician II Grade (if applicable): S2** **Department/College or School/Unit: GCMI / T3 Labs** **JOB PURPOSE:** **Please provide a 3-4 sentence summary which defines the role(s) of the job.** **Provide daily care, husbandry, and support to the laboratory animals at GCMI / T3 Labs test facility sites. Maintains the vivarium’s sanitation per SOP. Maintains and generates the individual animal’s medical records. Interpret medical orders, calculate pharmaceutical doses and administer medications unsupervised. Train and mentor Animal Care I. Reviews medical records and research data for accurate documentation and data collection.** **IMPACT & INFLUENCE:** **This position will interact with GCMI / T3 labs other technical positions, research scientist, faculty in order to manage the in-life in vivo portions of the research and customer service. This position has the experience and knowledge to mentor new Animal Care Tech I employees.** **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:** **What are the key responsibilities of this job and the percentage of available time spent on each?** **ACTIVITY PERCENTAGE** **Example: Develops Annual Business Plan** **10%** + **Provide daily care to laboratory animals including feeding, watering, and cage cleaning.** **100%** + **Maintain accurate daily records of animal health as well as all SOP and regulatory required documents.** **100%** + **Sanitize animal rooms, cages, and other equipment to maintain a healthy environment for animals. Operate sanitizing equipment, environmental housing equipment and research related equipment.** **100%** + **Interpret medical orders, accurately calculate pharmacologic doses and administer medications.** **100%** + **Post-operative exams, evaluations and data collection** **100%** + **Assist with the transport and receipt of animals** **100%** + **Review and evaluate medical records, research data for accuracy** **100%** + **Mentor new Animal Care Tech I staff** **25%** **EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:** **High School Diploma/GED & a minimum of 2 year of lab animal exp or veterinary experience. Alternatively an Associates or Bachelor Degree & a minimum of 1 year lab animal exp or veterinary exp.** **SPECIALIZED SKILLS:** **Are specialized skills required for this job? What skills are preferred?
