University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB)’s Veterinary Resources program is seeking aContractual Animal Census Clerk (Merchandiser II) to join its team. Reporting to the Business Operations Administrator, this position will create and collect animal cage cards. Responsibilities include scanning and uploading information into the department database. This position requires daily physical activity. The Animal Census Clerk must be able to spend long periods of time on his/her feet and walk between animal facilities each day. This includes walking outdoors between buildings on the UMB campus.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Two years related work experience
Preferred Experience: Prior experience caring for animals or in Laboratory Animal Science
Supervisory Experience: N/A
Certification/Licensure: N/A
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of animal census procedures. Skill in the use of computer keyboards, calculators and tablets. Ability to make arithmetic computations; to communicate and interact effectively with customers, campus community, vendors, and employees; to stand and walk for extensive periods; to lift, transport, and stock merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs.
Hiring Range: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
