Comparative Medicine (CM) is a program within the Thrombosis Atherosclerosis Research Institute (TaARI) in the David Braley Research Institute. TaARI�s focus is on research excellence in thrombosis and atherosclerosis and CM focuses on the translation of basic research findings into clinically relevant models prior to evaluation in humans.
Reporting directly to Manager, Animal health technician - ARC, oversees all aspects of technical services and operations of animal research facilities. Support the Manager with daily operations of HHSC Animal Facility. The position is responsible for the effective coordination, maintenance of all equipment. The incumbent will support the ARC manager with all applicable institutional Policies Guidelines, Provincial and Federal legislation and guidelines. This position will support the manager ensuring the care and management of animals, ensuring animal health and welfare are a priority while supporting animal-based research. The incumbent will assist the ARC manager in maintaining effective communication with users of the facilities.

1. RLAT Certification and/or Bachelor of Science Degree preferred. RVT considered an asset.
2. Minimum one year previous experience working with laboratory animals
3. Previous experience working with wash area equipment � washer, autoclaves
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently
5. Demonstrated excellent communication and problem-solving skills
6. Demonstrated ability to work in a flexible research environment
