Job Title: Animal Technician - Farm
Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide animal husbandry and non-human primate enrichment to two breeding colonies of non-human primates.

ResponsibilitiesPerform routine animal husbandry procedures.Support animal facility functions to ensure it runs safely and orderly.Provide daily enrichment for nonhuman primates, including rotational creative use of food and physical devices to enrich the physical environment.Collect, maintain, and comply with written documentation and records.Manage the institutional nonhuman primate quarantine program, including preparing areas for new arrivals, administering drugs for restraint and treatment, conducting intradermal tuberculin testing, and observing and documenting test results.Collect required biological samples for analysis and treatment.Tattoo, chip, tag, and obtain routine weights for various nonhuman primate species such as macaques, baboons, marmosets, and squirrel monkeys.Assist veterinary staff, research staff, and Animal Resources personnel as needed, including providing medical care/treatments, anesthesia, or research manipulations.Provide assistance with receiving and shipping laboratory animals.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or GED and 1 year of related experience.Ability to provide drug calculations, read and write.Capability to work independently.Proficiency in performing manipulations with specific techniques, such as intravenous, intramuscular, and subcutaneous injections.Certification by the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) level is required after 15 months of employment.Additional Skills & QualificationsAdditional education may substitute for required experience, as per the equivalency formula.Must be able to work a rotating schedule that includes approximately one weekend per month and rotating holidays.Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00
