*Pay Range: $28.85 - $43.77 CAD hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Animator/Rigger is responsible for mechanical systems, complex body and face deformations, automation through scripting, animating and rigging character/object performances.
MAIN DUTIES:
The Animator/Rigger will work with the CG Supervisor, Rigging, Animation, and Modeling Leads to provide creative iterative problem solving. They will create, maintain, test, and debug animation tools and pipelines. They will ensure art content and features are easily integrated and aligned with our artistic vision, while also considering technical constraints. Other duties include:Identify problems and guide the team toward better workflows through automation and tools.Conduct communications between artists and dev team to optimize workflow.Work with the Real-time team implementing the rigs and rigging the assets.Design efficient rigs appropriate to the production’s needs.Design, test and maintain character set ups.
WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will have proven experience with animation implementation in tv or film, and knowledge of animation retargeting and sharing. They will bring a demonstrated ability working with strict deadlines and under pressure. They will have the ability to take direction and find creative solutions during the iterative process. The ideal candidate will also bring experience in the following:
Software: Maya (required), Houdini (considered a plus), Unreal or equivalent game engine (considered a plus), Motionbuilder (bonus).Programming: Python (required), Maya API (required), Motionbuilder API (bonus).Strong attention to detail.Understanding of movement of limbs, the effect of weight, and the behavior of skin and flesh;A positive team-oriented mindset.Proactive, self-motivated, and be able to work without micromanagement.Knowledge of Motionbuilder API, Shotgrid, Substance Design & Painter is an asset.
