SALARY:$41,906 - $53,795 (Subject to change per collective bargaining agreement)

JOB DESCRIPTION
Speech and Language Pathologist
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
The Speech and Language Pathologist has the responsibility to evaluate, plan, and provide speech and language therapy treatment to students in accordance with Committee on Special Education recommendations.
IMPROVING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY
Curriculum & Instruction
+ Plan and implement instruction based upon district standards and best instructional practices aligned to the K-12 instructional model.
+ Implement the instructional program, including practices to support a multi-tiered system of support.
+ Establish positive relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members.
+ Understand and implement culturally responsive curriculum which is standards based.
Assessment
+ Utilize formative and summative assessment to monitor and differentiate instructional practice based upon learners.
+ Maintaining speech and language records on all students on the case load.
+ Analyze class building, district, and state assessment data to inform curriculum implementation and instructional decisions.
+ Document student progress, learning, and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents/guardians and administration regarding student progress.
Resource Management
+ Create a safe and positive learning environment to support all students.
+ Maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework, and professional growth activities.
Working with Students
+ Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to be productive citizens.
+ Evaluate students as to the degree of function or disability.
+ Perform speech and language therapy procedures as recommended by the CSE and building level PST meetings.
+ Continually support student growth academically, socially and emotionally.
Maintaining Effective Communication with the Community
+ Participate in parent conferences, school conferences, PST meetings, and CSE meetings relating to the needs of their students.
+ Collaborate with colleagues, district leadership and families to create a classroom culture that supports high expectations for student learning.
+ Provide regular and effective communication w/families to support home/school connections.
Other
+ Provide teaching and functional training to classroom teachers and parents.
+ Abide by employment provisions provided for in the collective bargaining agreement.
+ Mandatory reporter for incidents of child abuse, harassment, intimidation, bullying, fights, substance abuse etc.
+ Observe strict confidentiality regarding student data and information.
QUALIIFICATIONS
+ Valid certificate as a Speech and Language Pathologist for the State of New York with required endorsement in area of assignment
+ Prior experience in the school setting preferred, but not required.
+ Successful New York State fingerprint clearance
AUTHORITY
+ The Speech and Language Pathologist is directly responsible to the Directors of student services, building principals and district leadership.
