Our client, a leading company in the oil and gas industry, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant to join their accounting team. This full-time position is based in either Houston, TX, or Morgantown, WV. The ideal candidate will play a key role in processing invoices, managing vendor payments, and ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions.
What You Will Be Doing:Invoice Management: Review and verify invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Data Entry: Code and enter invoices into the accounting system, ensuring proper allocation to cost centers and accounts.
Vendor Relations: Respond to vendor inquiries, resolve discrepancies or issues related to invoices, payments, and account balances, and maintain professional communication.
Payment Processing: Process vendor payments via checks and reconcile payments as needed.
Audit Support: Assist with year-end audit activities by providing required documentation and support.
Your Background:Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
Experience: 1-2 years in accounts payable or general accounting roles, ideally in the oil and gas industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is essential for data entry and analysis. Experience with Open Invoice is a plus but not mandatory.
Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
Organizational Skills: Excellent time management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with vendors, colleagues, and stakeholders.
