Key Responsibilities:
The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) will facilitate optimal preoperative patient care. The APN will provide medical screening, draw lab work, medication reconciliation, discuss type of anesthetic and postoperative pain control and give day of surgery medication and NPO instruction. The screening is both over the phone and in the clinic.APN will work both autonomously and in collaboration with Anesthesiology physicians and staff. Ensures that care delivered to patients, meets/exceeds standards of care and is provided according to Loyola University Medical Center's mission, strategic plans and all internal/external regulations, policies and procedures. Practices within the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation Nurse Practice Act.Follows established procedure in accordance with hospital and nursing department philosophy, policies, and standard physician orders in managing pain for the patient. Obtains health histories and performs physical examinations with timely and appropriate documentation in the medical record. Orders, conducts, and interprets laboratory and imaging diagnostic studies. Prescribes or recommends pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies including controlled medications that are warranted by the patient's medical condition. Provides direct patient care and management for patients requiring opioids. Acts as an educator and serves as a clinical resource for staff through participation in seminars and conferences. Interfaces with nursing staff, ancillary departments, and consultative services to maintain effective communication and effective working relationships. Develops and participates in quality initiatives and research.Position Requirements:

Must have an Acute Care Degree and Acute Care Certification

· Required: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
· Preferred: 6-10 years of previous job-related experience

CPR – Basic Life Support Nursing – Current Registered Nurse License - State of Illinois Nursing – Nursing Practitioner License – State of IllinoisPay Range: $109,304 - $180,336 per year
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
