Peckham Inc. - Apparel Team Leader 1 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: + Wage: $14.25 / hr + Location: 3080 S Linden Rd, Flint, MI 48507 + Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm Monday - Friday + Must pass pre-hire sewing assessment SUMMARY The Apparel Team Leader assists in the supervision and coordination of activities of sewing machine operators assembling articles. Serves as an example to consumers in the Apparel Department. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; encouraging and motivating employees; soliciting input; addressing complaints, and resolving problems. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES + Responsible for ensuring that daily production quotas are met. + Move members of team to areas that are in need of help. + Sew at machines when vacant. + Motivate sewers to meet production goals. + Keep materials flowing as needed. + Stock the line as needed. + Order components, and material as needed. + Responsible for ensuring that quality products are produced. + Notify supervisor or Quality Assurance of any defects in process. + Repair parts or delegate to repair parts. + Demonstrate the ability to operate sewing machinery and perform a majority of the applicable sewing steps. + Responsible for entering production data into PLM charts daily. + Responsible to review and make corrections in On Time system daily. + Conduct daily 5-minute meetings with the team. + Responsible to keeping the production/Daily Visual Management boards updated. + Report mechanical problems to maintenance. + Report activates, and issues to apparel supervisor daily. + Assist in the training and coaching of all team members as needed. + Must practice LEAN principles and 5S concepts. + Assist in maintaining ISO9001 and Peckham Industries QMS requirements. + Attend production/service meetings as assigned. + Utilize a teamwork approach for all projects. + Promote Peckham’s vision, values, and services to all Team Members. + Assist in maintaining organization wide quality standards. + Maintain a safe and clean work environment. + Assist in the training and coaching of all Team Members as needed. + Must be sensitive to cultural diversity and able to work with people from various backgrounds. + Participation in Peckham’s safety programs and ergonomic activities is required. + Prepare garments for packaging, folding, tagging garments with fastener gun, placing in bags, labelling bags, placing bags in bins. + Other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS + Apprentice Sewer Level 2 or higher. + Must not have more than 3 occurrences accrued. + Prior experience as Apparel Team Leader Level 1. + Ability to read and interpret documents. + Ability to speak effectively before groups of team members or employees of organization. + Must meet conversational English proficiencies. + Read and write basic English. + Basic computer skills. + Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and volume. + Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. + Ability to communicate effectively with others. + Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. + Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. + Must have maintained excellent attendance in previous position. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + Ability to work effectively as part of a team. + Problem solving skills. + Strong ability to multitask and prioritize assignments. + Mentoring experience. + Positive coping and stress management skills. + Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products; Outlook, Word, and Excel. + Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
