Appliance Mechanic (Range Control)

Responsibilities

The Alarm Monitor operates communication equipment to receive incoming calls for assistance and dispatches personnel and equipment to scene of emergency, operates telephone console to receive incoming calls for assistance, questions caller to determine nature of problem and type and number of personnel and equipment needed, following established guidelines, and scans status charts and computer screen to determine units available. This worker monitors alarm system signals that indicate location of fire or other emergency, operates two-way radio to dispatch police, fire, medical, and other personnel and equipment, and to relay instructions or information to remove units. This worker types commands on computer keyboard to update files and maintain logs, tests communications and alarm equipment, and backup systems to ensure serviceability. The Alarm Monitor may provide pre-arrival instructions to caller, utilizing knowledge of emergency medical techniques, and activate alarm system to notify fire stations.

Locating and installing the necessary repair or replacement parts. Performing routine maintenance to ensure appliances are functioning efficiently at Field and Sustainment levels of maintenance. Ensures quality of work and required tools and materials are to be used.

Ensures work is complete and conforms to standards and requirements IAW technical manuals, ETM’S, and local SOPs.

Providing estimates, explaining repairs, and advising on future maintenance, analyzes malfunctions, conduct repairs and services to FMC.

Keeping detailed records of the work performed and the costs involved.

Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and understand electrical, hydraulic schematics, and use scanners on commercial vehicle fleets.

Performs initial, in-process and final inspections of work orders.

Assures that equipment and supplies are utilized properly.

Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Lead mechanic.

Qualifications

Education: High School graduate or equivalent with training in equipment maintenance and management procedures at the DS/GS level of maintenance.

Experience: 1+ years, experience in equipment maintenance at the journeyman level. Must have commercial experience on restaurant/kitchen appliances.

Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver’s License prior to starting or by 30 days after employment.

Security Clearance: Must be US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) to obtain a CAC. Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.

Equipment Directly Used:

Diagnostic and test equipment; multi-meters, scanner, test set, power and hand tools, test stands, and special tools.

Working Environment/Physical Activities:

Work is generally conducted on site. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work will require lifting to 50 lbs; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules. Must be able to deploy with Military unit if required during training exercise down range or National training center. Required to wear steel toe shoes at all times.

Freedom To Act: Reports to assigned Supervisor and functions somewhat independently under his /her guidance.
