Appliance Technician
**Amentum** is seeking an **Appliance Technician** in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The Appliance Technician installs, services and repairs stoves, refrigerators, dishwashing machines, and other electrical household or commercial appliances, using hand tools, test equipment and following wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications. **Job Requirements:** + Ability to read blueprints, manuals, and schematics. + Repairs and adjusts appliance motors, reassembles appliance, adjusts pulleys and lubricates moving parts, using hand tools and lubricating equipment. + Replaces worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers and defective wiring, + Cleans and washes parts, using wire brush, buffer, and solvent to remove carbon, grease and dust + Traces electrical circuits, following diagram and locates shorts and grounds, using ohmmeter, calibrates timers, thermostats and adjusts contact points, + Disassembles appliances and examines mechanical and electrical parts + Examines appliance during operating cycle to detect excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks and loose parts + Connects appliance to power source and test meters, such as wattmeter, ammeter, or voltmeter, observes readings on meters and graphic recorders, + Troubleshoots equipment for issues to prevent malfunctions and/or identify opportunities for improvements. + Responsible for troubleshooting appliances, repairing, replacing, and maintaining the electrical wiring and circuits on assets on the base by responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and repairing the appliance’s components in a timely manner. + Repair and replace as needed motors, contacts, relays, motor starters, and motor sheaves, wiring. + Skilled in use of tools common to the trade including electric metersand hand held powered tools. + Performs preventive maintenance of appliances throughout base. + Performs general maintenance tasks necessary for repair at the property. + Responds to maintenance calls, troubleshooting and repairing issues. + Prepares estimates, man hours, materials used and orders items needed for job completion or inventory replacement per established procedures. + Follows all policy, procedures and service standards and complies with all current related safety and health requirements. + Ability to work independently or in a team-driven setting. + Basic decision-making skills; uses independent judgment. + Performs other duties as assigned. **Minimum Qualification Requirements** + High School Diploma or GED + Valid Drivers License + US or Naturalized Citizen + 3 years of appliance repair experience or vocational training in appliance repair with 1 year of experience. + Must possess an active Government clearance at time of application.
