What are we looking for?

The successful candidate must be able to work with several different tools and technologies. 

Much of the systems development will require an understanding of object-oriented design as well as having some background in database technologies.

A creative individual with strong software development and communications skills.

Your responsibilities will include: 

Develop and maintain a solid working knowledge of the investment industry and business processes.

Participate in planning sessions with clients, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements. Engage in client interaction.

Collaborate with stakeholders to gather pain points and design innovative solutions.

Assist with the translation of business and technical requirements into application modules.

Lead the end-to-end application development process, including planning, designing, coding, testing, and deployment.

Ensure the delivery of robust, scalable, and maintainable applications.

Establish and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and software development best practices.

Provide technical direction, mentorship, and guidance to development teams to ensure best practices are followed.  Identify skill gaps and recommend training opportunities.

Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends to recommend and implement innovative solutions.

Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration within and across teams, including developers, BAs, product managers, and business stakeholders.

Manage risks, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions proactively.

Oversee code reviews and ensure adherence to architectural standards.

Coach and mentor team members, fostering a growth-oriented and collaborative environment.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred

Experience:

8+ years of experience in application development, including 3+ years in a leadership or technical lead role.

Proven experience with technologies such with .NET, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, MS SQL/PostgreSQL.

Experience with User Interface design & development using React, Angular

Hands-on experience with AWS cloud platform, DevOps practices, and modern development methodologies.

Experience in microservices architecture, APIs, Test automation.

Skills:

Strong leadership and team-building skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Proficiency in software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Familiarity with project management tools and techniques.

Must be able to communicate with business users in non-technical terms and communicate the impacts of system changes to business partners.

Analytical approach with a strong ability to uncover and resolve problems and deliver innovative approaches and solutions.

Ability to set and manage priorities effectively in a dynamic organization while providing reliable estimates for project tasks and delivering upon committed dates.

Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence and inspire teams.

Strategic thinker with a focus on delivering value to the business.

AWS Solution Architect Certification.

Experience in Investment Management domain.

ETL and data warehouse knowledge

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) from Hartford, CT. Charlotte, NC. Chicago, IL. or Columbus, OH.

 

Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$114,720 - $172,080
