Application Engineer
Job Title: Application EngineerJob Description A manufacturer of surface heaters, temperature controllers, and insulators is currently looking for an Application Engineer to join their team. Their products are used in numerous industries to prevent freezing, keep contents flowing, and maintain critical process temperatures. The primary role of this position is to manage sales projects for the development of custom heating solutions across various customer segments. Key responsibilities include coordinating technical specifications and dimensions between the customer, sales department, engineering, and manufacturing. Responsibilities + Act as a point of technical contact or sales contact during the product development phase for new and ongoing projects for major customers. + Oversee the documentation and receipt of approval of customer specifications for projects and assist in the preparation of quotes and proposals. + Engage in sales and technical presentations to prospective or existing customers. + Coordinate quotes, technical information, dimensions, and other parameters with customers, engineering, manufacturing, and other members of the sales team. + Oversee the coordination and transfer of new orders between sales, engineering, the customer, and manufacturing to ensure accurate design and compliance with customer specifications. + Coordinate engineering changes with the customer and various departments to ensure customer satisfaction and adherence to procedural guidelines. + Oversee all pricing, pricing revisions, shipping schedules, and other parameters based on customer requests. + Review approval drawings from engineering, send them promptly to the customer, and ensure their prompt return and finalization according to shipment expectations. + Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and the testing lab to ensure development, design, testing requirements, on-time delivery, and other customer and company expectations for first article products, prototypes, and other shipments. + Work with contracted sales partners, distribution partners, sales personnel, and directly with the customer to meet needs, forecast future needs, and grow the business. + Act as a key contact on an ongoing basis with assigned customers to determine new products, materials, and other items of interest and communicate these interests to all departments. + Travel to customers as required for sales and technical presentations, measurements, and other technical parameter discussions and customer needs. + Conduct pricing reviews of major accounts and recommend guidelines based on profit information and marketing pricing to help retain existing customers and pursue new opportunities. + Assist inside sales as required by providing quotes, customer contact, and technical issue resolution. Essential Skills + Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1 co-op experience within a manufacturing environment. + Good written and oral communication skills. + 1-3 years of technical support or sales experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred). + Experience in application engineering, customer interaction, and customer interfacing. + Mechanical aptitude. + Sales/application aptitude. Work Environment This position will primarily work out of the corporate office located in Columbus, OH. The role requires around 0-5% travel to customer sites.
