Application Engineer

About the Role: We are looking for an experienced Application Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will serve technical support of industrial gasket to our distribution partner and end user in China. Industrial Gasket business unit serves gasket products to chemical, energy, shipbuilding, paper, semiconductor industry by using our global supply chain. The candidate will be passionate about providing Industrial Engineering support for gasket business, energized by working for a world-class manufacturer and collaborating on cross-functional teams, recognize the importance of building and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships and possess strong attention to detail, and excellent documentation skills.

  

This role will be located at our facility in Shanghai, China. 

  

Responsibilities: 

Develop in-depth market and application understanding in Industrial gasket Supporting sales through expert understanding and application of current Gore product concepts Understand customers’ needs and collaborate with experts (local and global) to fulfill those needs by utilizing global lab capability and application engineer network Validate that the customer's use of existing product meets established Fitness for Use criteria Drive the growth of existing product in targeted end uses. Support the sales team in strategic selling and market assessment activities as the application expert Identify new product opportunities in areas of application expertise. Provide FFU input and customer feedback to the New Product Development (NPD) process Coordinate cross functional efforts to effectively satisfy customer needs. Influence effectively with global, cross-functional teams and external customers Share application insights, competitive options, and competitive technology with the business team as input into the product development and innovation plans actively

  

Required Qualifications: 

B.S. degree in Science or Engineering Discipline Minimum 5 years engineering experience Fluent in English and Mandarin Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to efficiently resolve technical issues Ability to extract application requirements and translate into product specifications Ability to recognize when application requirements may not be met by existing products Demonstrated ability to independently recognize technical uncertainty and engage appropriate associates to manage the waterline Demonstrated ability to manage expectations, with internal or external customers Ability to travel up to 40% 

  

Desired Qualifications: 

Develop an in-depth understanding of packing and technical fiber markets Demonstrated success working with and gathering information in complex, large scale multi-national organizations
