Job Description
The Front-End Seal Applications Engineer for Commercial Operations AM is responsible for supporting our customers and end-user sales team & distributors as related to our Aftermarket offerings with the main target to increase our seal installed base and therefore our seal AM business.
This role involves all customer facing activities related to the order acquisition process such as:
Technical and commercial customer visits,Technical trainings to clients,On-site Troubleshooting, seal inspections & walkabouts,Start-up assistance support to clients when requiredProposal development and pricing analysisIn addition to Customer facing activities, the Front-End Seal Application Engineer is responsible of creating and pre-define solutions, give quick price budget/estimations and collaborate with in-side Application engineers to issue complete proposal to clients. This will require coordination with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
The Front-End Applications Engineer uses strong technical background and commercial acumen, as well as strong communication skills, strong commitment to internal improvement of the team, effective communication and collaboration with all group interfaces, and a commitment to expanding team capabilities, as well as technical expertise and breadth of knowledge related to Flowserve's aftermarket offerings.
This position reports to the Supervisor ComOps AM.
Major Accountabilities
Increase seal population and create business opportunities through customer visits, walkabouts and troubleshooting activities.Main focus on competitor change outs and upgrades with the target to increase seal AM business on repairs and parts business.Participate to customers meeting and visits, alone or in combination with End User Sales Engineer. Customer facing activities should be at least 50% of the total time.Ensure high-quality proposals (technical and commercial) are timely prepared within limitations and customer scope using designated workload management tools and processes working together with an in-side Applications Engineer.Interact with an In-Side Application Engineer to manage and monitor the proposal throughout the entire bid cycle including updating and maintaining designated workload management tool, while monitoring hit-rate is optimized.Support In-side Application Engineer to ensure all customer inquiry related documents while addressing all relevant technical and commercial requirements to customers and/or commercial team.Conduct if requested/needed on-site hands-on activities such as examine & inspect failed products at customer site, providing written and oral explanations to customer.Participate and assist in start-ups of rotating equipment for seal upgrades, retrofits or bad actors if needed/requested.Conduct field walkabouts for analyzing and troubleshooting rotating equipment to generate the opportunity to do upgrade and competitor change outs.Establish and maintain close working relationships with Customers, Sales, Operations, and other functional stakeholders to promote the best interests of the company.Demonstrate a firm knowledge of Mechanical seals and Seal Systems fundamentals and clear understanding of all Flowserve seal types. Also, demonstrate a fundamental understanding of different rotating equipment applications and types, pump affinity laws and how these relate to pumps and systems.Organize and Delivery training to stakeholders (Customers and Commercial Team).Supervise & Mentor other colleagues with less experience when required.General requirements:
Engineering Degree background. Mechanical Engineering preferred.Working Experience: Desired a minimum of 2-3 Years of experience.Work experience in Rotating Equipment and/or Mechanical Seals would be a plus.Mandatory fluent in English and local language.Strong PC Skills and Experience using Microsoft Office Tools.Expected Travelling Time: 60-70% of total
