Application Engineer I, II, III - Automation
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a dedicated individual who desires continual growth and learning in automation.  You will become part of our Application Engineering team in the Upper Midwest providing technical support to our utility and industrial customers.  You will teach our customers how to apply our products, supporting our mission to make electric power safer, more reliable, and more economical.  Come join a value-driven company who is a leader in the electric power industry! 

 

As an Application Engineer – Automation a typical day might include the following:  

· Maintain and improve your knowledge of automation and communication systems and all related SEL products.  Some areas you may work in will be software applications, integration, automation, utility/industrial protocols (IEC 61850, DNP, Modbus), network communications, and ICON networking systems. 

· Help customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses and telephone contact. 

· Contribute to product specifications, software development, software application, and literature. 

· Participate in SEL marketing and sales activities and industry technical meetings and conferences. 

· Teach in training schools for customers and SEL personnel. 

· Write technical documents for internal use and technical conferences.

 

This job might be for you if: 

· You have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, equivalent degree, or equivalent work experience. 

· You have 2+ years’ experience in automation systems. 

· You have completed an SEL Engineering Development Program or equivalent work experience. 

· You have proven technical training, speaking, writing, and customer service skills. 

· You have the ability to direct daily work activities with minimal supervision. 

· You have the ability to travel 25-35%.

Application Engineer III - $100,200 - $157,000

Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. The salary range may differ in other locations based on cost of labor. We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
