Position Summary:
Milacron is looking for an Application Engineer – Injection Molding to join our team in Batavia, OH. As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for sizing machines for new applications and collaborating with the sales teams and customers to ensure that Milacron’s equipment complements and fits the customer’s desired application, thereby ensuring optimum cycle time and reliability. You will also work closely with sales engineers, product managers, customers, and other Milacron stakeholders to ensure success during customer mold trials, sales demo mold trials, and testing of injection molding machines.
Work You’ll Do:
Advise and support sales and customers in selecting the correct equipment for specific applications
Provide technical support and direction for existing product lines
Travel 20-30% of the time for customer training, presentations, machine/cycle optimization, field installations, and trade shows
Direct the work of process engineers and service engineers to collect data for machine sizing
Assist process engineers in installing customer molds for machine demonstrations and sales acceptance
Become a subject matter expert on all Milacron control systems
Design and perform testing for future sizing requirements and machine design criteria
Complete and document machine/processing testing
Provide technical reports to customers, engineering, and suppliers
Communicate professionally with the sales and engineering teams, customers, and the organization
Basic Qualifications:
Technical degree in an engineering-related field with 2+ years of experience in application engineering or technical support, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
Proficient in 3D CAD modeling and analysis software
Strong mechanical aptitude, with understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and thermodynamic systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Knowledge of injection molding processes and tooling
