Application Scientist
Job Title: Application Scientist Job Description The Application Scientist will be responsible for performing lab work on various products, including batteries, pharmaceutical instrumentation, and injection devices. This role involves running X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analyses on samples, traveling to customer sites for application training, and contributing to marketing efforts through technical support and materials creation. Responsibilities + Run X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analyses on samples, including preparing samples from rock to powder. + Mount samples in the instrument, set up scan conditions, understand the physics of the instrument, set x-ray strength, filter, and analyze images. + Use imaging technology to build 3D images and identify cracks or bubbles that lead to instrument failure. + Travel to customer sites to provide application training and support, but not installations. + Create and contribute to marketing materials from a technical standpoint. + Attend conferences and tradeshows as an equipment representative. + Provide post-sales and technical support, including troubleshooting customer issues. Qualifications: + Master's or PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Geology, etc. + 3+ years of experience with XRD, with involvement in a crystallography facility. + Experience running X-ray Diffraction (XRD) with powder samples. + Strong understanding of the physics of XRD instruments. + Experience with marketing and creating technical materials. + Ability to travel up to 30% of the time. + Excellent communication and customer service skills. Work Environment This is a salary-exempt position with a 40-hour work week, typically 9am-5pm. Office hours are 9am-3pm Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. The role requires time in the lab. Travel is required up to 30%, organized by the employee, with company credit card, travel, lodging, and meals provided. The team consists of 4 Application Scientists.
