Application Support Analyst II

Position Summary: This position is responsible for the implementation of moderately complex tools and processes, and the proactive support and maintenance of business information systems. Works under general supervision to effectively scope, plan for, and deliver on customer requests to include break fix issues and projects. Leads and coordinates medium scale projects. Utilizes best practices to implement and document consistent builds. Takes ownership of issues with medium complexity. Highly responsive to customers and shows an aptitude for the development and documentation of customer requirements. Essential Duties: + Performs a variety of non-routine tasks required for on-going support, problem diagnosis, and problem resolution related to existing information systems. + Effectively coordinates problem resolution with users, other IS personnel, and vendors. + Assesses problem situations with care and considers all aspects before pursuing a solution; demonstrates the ability to exercise independent judgment. + Ensures that system changes are thoroughly tested before placing in production; monitors results before signing off on changes made. + Establishes and maintains a good rapport with users and other personnel. + Demonstrates good analytical ability in evaluating existing systems and developing new systems and procedures. + Serves as designated IS contact and resource for assigned user departments and develops understanding of business and information requirements. + Acts as liaison among user departments and IS during the design, installation, and integration of a new or modified system. + Communicates with user departments and management to determine information needs and present potential solutions. + Effectively facilitates communication with user departments to exchange information and ideas. + Demonstrates an understanding of and sensitivity to the users' environment and information needs. + Participates in project team and task force meetings as directed, completes assignments on time. + Consistently demonstrates effective verbal communication skills; communicates ideas clearly and in a manner appropriate for the audience. + Assists user departments in user training, documentation, and development of policies and procedures related to information systems. + Demonstrates proficiency in the use of assigned departmental systems as well as internal communication, and presentation. + Prepares effective training material; conducts informative training classes and one-on-one training as required. + Develops accurate and informative presentation material as required to illustrate complex technical and functional concepts. + Demonstrates good written communication skills; writes documents and reports clearly, concisely, and grammatically correct. + Maintains current knowledge of corporate and departmental policies and procedures, applicable regulatory agencies, and information systems security policies and procedures. + Assists with the analysis, selection, design, development, and implementation of information solutions. + Consistently follows project work plans and test plans completing tasks timely and accurately. + Assists with the development of functional design specifications including interface specifications, conversion specifications, and database structures. + Ensures that system user interfaces are designed to maximize efficient and error-free utilization by the user. + Consistently notifies Management of problems or delays related to the project and provides alternative approaches. + Effectively performs as a member of the project team; works with other personnel assigned to the project to efficiently perform assigned tasks. + Accurately evaluates existing systems, both manual and automated; effectively analyzes alternate approaches for meeting user requirements. + Trains junior analysts and other IS staff on assigned information systems. + Provides training to junior analysts and other IS staff on basic system functionality such that they can perform their duties. + Documents procedures to assist junior analysts in performing their duties. + Serves as the primary resource for junior analysts when they have system related questions. + Guides junior analysts with problem solving related to information systems. + Includes junior analysts in end user department information systems meetings helping them to gain an understanding of the business needs. Education and Experience: Required: + Bachelor’s degree in in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. + Three years in systems development or support. OR + Four years of experience in systems development or support may substitute for degree.
