Application Support Engineer - Advanced (Calibre/Physical Verification)

Job Description

Interfaces with mid-level customers, engineers, and managers to develop or enhance complex computer-aided engineering design or manufacturing processes.

Uses computer-aided systems to assist and instruct lead customer engineers on large scale, complex design and tooling tasks involving multiple design environments.

Cogently communicates software problems to product development.

Assists other engineers in the design, development, and implementation of large scale, complex graphical application programs on multiple software products and hardware platforms.

Provides business and technical feedback to software and hardware vendors.

Uses advanced data exchange methodologies to facilitate effective data sharing between dissimilar systems or applications that span across engineering disciplines.

Provides technical guidance to lead customer engineers in the application of complex design techniques and system procedures related to computer-aided engineering software.

Responsible for in-depth technical papers and presentations to customer management.

Guides junior engineers. Works with minimal supervision on complex projects with wide latitude for independent judgment. Well skilled with broad proficiency.

Essential Functions:  

Focus on deep submicron activities for the IC verification flows in complex nanometer technologies, to assisted Siemens EDA variant customers in their projects to utilize the company’s tools, while developing design methodologies and environments to cut development cycle time while increasing product functionality, performance, and quality. Providing support to the local Application Engineering teams running deployment campaigns of Calibre Verification tool, as well as participating in the product testing and qualification at customer side. Communicating with Calibre customers to assess their support needs in terms of methodology analysis or training requirements. Working with the local account teams to strategize the deployment Calibre circuit verification flows and lead the communication with the product teams to achieve smooth deployment and ensuring that the customer requests are fulfilled. Provide Calibre day to day support, and capable of supporting several Calibre products across Physical verification product families Provide information/background/opinion in a consulting role to other internal organizations, in addition to customers Give presentations on products and the industry at conferences and User Group Meetings Escalate only the most serious of matters to management

Skills and Abilities Required:  

At least two (3) years of experience in IC Physical verification in complex nanometer technologies (28nm and below including FInFET technologies) Physical Verification, flow DRC/LVS/PERC deep knowledge. Deep sign off and tape-out enablement flows, supporting Tape-out and provide BKM for runtime improvement. Collaborated with customers for rule writing and development using SVRF/TVF Ability to support Calibre DRC/LVS, Calibre PERC, Calibre xRC/xACT, xACT3D Demonstrates technical expertise in areas of specialization above. Highly experience using Siemens EDA (Previously Mentor Graphics) portfolio products High knowledge of relevant operating systems. Hands on experience implementing, troubleshooting, and providing support Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Problem solving and reasoning skills

Education and Experience Requirement:  

3-5 years of similar work experience and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent. (Advanced degree a plus).


This position will be subject to U.S. export control requirements under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).  Employment is contingent on either verifying the U.S. Person status or obtaining any necessary export license.

The salary range for this position is $87,600 to $157,700 and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate’s work location as well as additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.  Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees.
