About the Applications Architect Role:
Reporting to the Lead Applications Architect within ITS Enterprise Applications, the Applications Architect collaborates with business partners and ITS to understand and achieve desired business outcomes across all campuses. The role involves integrating the “big picture” of enterprise application platforms, services, and technology, and creating effective plans for current and future application architecture development and integrations. This includes leveraging best practices for technology design, configuration, and deployment across various enterprise applications such as the Student Information System (SIS), Financial Information System (FIS), Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, Digital Identity (DI) systems, Digital Experience Platform (DXP) systems, and related integrations.
The Applications Architect provides strategic advice to senior management on organizing enterprise digital assets to manage risk, achieve business outcomes, and optimize the client experience. This involves a diverse set of enterprise platforms, services, and integrations to meet the college’s varied business needs.
Strategic Leadership
Act as a trusted advisor to senior administration and campus clients, ensuring project alignment with college and digital innovation objectives Serve as the primary contact for application architecture consultations, defining, evaluating, and recommending architecture requirements and strategies, including application integration and interface design Provide architecture expertise to support college-wide operations, understanding Humber’s core business and service architectures Leads technology change to deliver business outcomes while also virtually leveraging subject matter experts from any other needed technical area Oversees, or consults on, technology implementation and modification activities (e.g., projects and products), particularly for new or shared infrastructure solutions Recommend new technologies to support ITS and Humber’s Strategic Plan and Digital Campus Plan Present and advocate for new approaches and ideas to senior management, overseeing technical solution development for portfolio requirements· Advisory and Consultation
Provide confidential strategic advice to senior management for key business proposals, addressing ambiguity, staffing impacts, labour relations, and competitive advantage Advise on application architecture approaches and issues, developing plans, solutions, and business models, and anticipating future needs. Support collaboration between ITS teams on strategic integration and standards development Participate in steering committees and stakeholder forums Identify opportunities for alignment and optimization of technology strategies to reduce duplication, manage risk and enable enterprise-wide delivery of services and solutions· Research and Development
Research and assess applications architecture, integration models, usage patterns, systems analysis/design, and risk management Explore and identify trends impacting digital architecture planning Address competing priorities, new technologies, expanding services, and client requests Recommend application architectures to meet current and future client requirements and core business needs Understands technology trends and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models Guides technology investment decisions based on analysis and evaluation to drive targeted business outcomes while ensuring nonfunctional requirements are met Support the Digital Architecture Risk Review Team (DARRT) as a Digital Architect subject matter expert· Standardization and Governance
Implement application architecture standards, ensuring consistency in integration and deployment Monitor and report on procedures, processes, methods, techniques, and controls, recommending new/revised standards Suggest expanded services, new processes, and standardized operational procedures to meet evolving business needs· Continuous Improvement

A 4-year degree in Information Technology or a related field from a recognized institution, or equivalent training and experience in ERP applications architecture planning, development, integration, and deployment in an enterprise-wide environmentExperience/Skills
A minimum of 7 years of experience in a progressively complex enterprise systems environment Experience in the architecture and operation of leading DXP/CMS systems such as Acquia Cloud and Drupal multi-site is an asset. Higher education or public sector experience is highly desirableSkills sought in a successful candidate include:
o Knowledge of applications architecture, strategic planning, database concepts, virtualization, cloud computing, and integration in an enterprise IT environment
o Awareness of emerging technologies, industry trends, and architecture-related technical and business planning
o Strong client relations skills to meet diverse client business needs
o Working knowledge of technology delivery methodologies such as Agile and Scrum
o Superior analytical skills and the ability to develop relevant strategies and architectural guidance
o Extensive experience in the delivery of business application and integration/web service solutions in a large, complex organization
o Strong familiarity with cloud and on-premise application platforms, development environments, database management systems and infrastructure
o One of more of these certifications is an asset that should be highlighted in your application: AWS Solutions Architect Professional Certification, Azure Solutions Architect Professional Certification, Salesforce Application Architect, Acquia Cloud Certification.
