We are seeking an innovative and experienced Sr. Manufacturing Applications Engineer in our Flexible Drive System (FDS) area to develop creative solutions to meet the challenging requirements of flexible drive systems for critical aerospace applications. FDS Engineers work as part of small yet nimble team responsible for the design, analysis and validation testing of flexible driveshafts and associated driveline components for rotorcraft and fixed-wing aircraft. Candidate will be required to support numerous activities throughout the entire lifecycle of the product line.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists in Creation of complex flexible driveshaft designs and detailed engineering drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.Conducts stress analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software to substantiate the detail design of driveshaft components.Supports in generation of test plans and technical test reports for driveshaft qualification and validation test programs. Also writes technical proposal reports to support new design proposals to customers.Consults with Sales on product requirements. Assist Sales with presentations or may create technical presentations for use by sales personnel. Deliver formal technical presentations or have face-to-face discussions with internal and external customers on detail design and product issues.Works closely with manufacturing and DFM engineers during the design phase of a driveshaft assembly to ensure the most cost-effective and producible configuration which meets the design intent and requirements of the application.Supports Manufacturing and Quality Assurance in the review of manufacturing-related issues, including but not limited to, Material Review Board evaluations and Overhaul reviews.Assists Test Lab Technicians during the setup and execution of dynamic driveshaft qualification tests. Designs test fixtures and adapters to facilitate product testing.Maintains clean and safe work environment. Follows safety and environmental procedures and processes. Reports safety incidents to supervisor.Makes recommendations for improvements to work processes. Contributes to 5S program in work area.Provides a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contributes to positive teamwork environment.Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in training/learning other positions. Accomplishes related results as needed. Qualifications
Education:
BS degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Metallurgy or related field is required
MS degree is a plus
Experience:
0 to 5 years of mechanical design experience is desired.
Design experience in a field related to power transmission or rotordynamics is a plus.
A solid knowledge of stress analysis principles is required with prior FEA analysis experience preferred.
