Summary
The Application Engineer is responsible for developing, testing, and implementing complex software applications and programs. The role includes utilizing customer input and needs to design software solutions. The role requires a knowledge of the electric power industry and the systems used.
Primary Duties
Write clean, scalable code using .NET programming languages Serve as a subject matter expert on applications and provide technical support Perform maintenance activities required for a SQL database AAG cluster. Revise, update and refactor existing codebases Participate in requirements analysis with internal and external customers Collaborate with internal teams to produce software design and architecture Develop documentation throughout the software development life cycle Serve as a subject matter expert on applications and provide technical support Participates in ITIL-based processes around the software development life cycle designed to meet regulatory standards (eg. NERC CIP)Scope of Responsibilities
The Application Engineer is responsible for developing software applications that meet the needs of Gridforce and its customers. Responsibilities also include learning software already developed and providing support of these applications.
Working Relationships
The applications engineer reports to the director of engineering and information systems and works closely with other members of the application team. There will also be some customer interface required.
Compensation
The initial compensation range is $78,000 - $95,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in information technology related field of study with a programming focus.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a software or application developer
Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
Specific Skills and Knowledge
Interest in the Bulk Electric System (BES)/Power Generation Industry and willingness to learn industry concepts, practices and standards Proven experience as a .NET developer or Application Developer SQL Server database maintenance Familiarity with the Microsoft .NET framework, SQL Server and common design/architectural patterns for enterprise software Knowledge of one or more .NET languages (e.g., C#, Visual Basic .NET, C++) Analytical and troubleshooting experience Ability to provide on-call support for production systems Excellent communication skills and attention to detailWorking Conditions
Normal working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This role provides 24/7 support and will be part of an on-call rotation. Client demands as well as security and compliance requirements, may dictate adjustment to this schedule.
