Job Summary:
The systems applications (apps) engineering role will report to the Rest of World Applications Engineering manager and will be responsible for supporting pre- and post- sales activities of the business development and sales (BDS) teams. This position will involve the integration of many different products from the Teledyne portfolio and therefore will require a wide breadth of knowledge and will require collaboration with other members of the apps engineering team. Apps engineers will work closely with product management, asset management and factories to provide feedback on product performance. The role requires travel within North America and internationally to support BDS opportunities. Successful candidates will be generally outgoing, technically competent, customer-focused, and enjoy playing a key role delivering solutions to meet the needs of our end users.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

•    Provide technical sales support to our BDS team and customers including product demonstrations, testing events, training, and product integration (both on-site and remote).

•    Conduct on-site surveys and assessments to ensure successful deployment of solutions.

•    Attend trade shows to support BDS team technically.

•    Facilitate demonstration/event communication, from planning stages to reporting goal status to key stakeholders.

•    Assist with system design and technical responses for proposals and quotations.

•    Coordination with sales operations reviewing product quotations for accuracy and completeness of product configurations and compatibility against customer requirements.

•    Collaborate with product management teams by providing functional and customer feedback to the product and engineering teams for future product design and roadmap definition.

•    Provide training for internal BDS personnel and external business partners/integrators.

•    Work closely with customers to manage technical product expectations.


Job Qualifications:

•    Undergraduate degree in electrical/computer engineering or computer science required

•    Strong problem solving and critical thinking (troubleshooting) skills

•    Excellent computer and networking skills, specifically with Microsoft products and software deployment

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team, both internal and customer-facing

•    Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment where priorities shift frequently

•    Field services (global)

•    Proactive and self-motivated


Additional Qualifications:

•    Experience with software-based products

•    Experience with control systems (security, surveillance, access control, SCADA)

•    Experience with security and surveillance hardware (cameras, radars, autonomous vehicles, analytics)

•    IT and network management experience

•    Field service experience


Working Conditions:

•    Travel required up to 50% (up to twice per month for one to two weeks – variable based on project and customer requirements)


This position requires access to export-controlled information or items (i.e. regulated technology or technical data per ITAR/EAR US regulations). Applicants must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
