Job Title: Application Engineer
Job Description

This position is for an Application Engineer who serves as the technical liaison for highly valued customers. The role involves translating customer drawings, specifications, and RFQs into product solutions that meet customer and business needs. The engineer will learn customer applications to establish tests and procedures for qualifying products and optimizing tools while proactively identifying opportunities to bring value to the customer and drive profitable growth. The engineer will act as the subject matter expert in product solutions at customer sites and serve as the main point of contact between the customer's engineering team and the global engineering team. Support routine product changes, deviations, sample development, and new product introductions.

ResponsibilitiesCoordinate expertise and recommend solutions from cross-functional teams to application and performance inquiries from customers related to Induction and EC motor applications in the Commercial motors field.Interact with the sales team and sophisticated customers on applications to translate customer requirements to product specifications/designs and provide valued techno-commercial proposals.Help resolve product issues at the customer and in the field by working with the customer and field sales team.Provide inputs to product engineering and New Product Development teams on Commercial motors applications and customer requirements to design and/or improve products considering manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost.Lead in capturing the voice of the customer and development of product specifications.Translate customer needs to manufacturing requirements and coordinate testing and qualification of products in customer applications.Support routine product changes, deviations, sample development, and new product introductions.Provide leadership and timely resolution to outstanding customer issues and support basic product teardown analysis of reliability returns for root cause and corrective action development.Lead or support internal qualification efforts on customer-impacting design changes and transition projects.Conduct competitive analysis on other manufacturers’ motors.Essential Skills5+ years of engineering experience in a field sales, customer support, or design, manufacturing environment in the equipment manufacturing industry.Experience in providing techno-commercial offers to field sales and customers.Experience in electric motors or rotating machines industry is a plus.Ability to interpret customer specifications and engineering drawings.Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsSkilled in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating working relationships with all levels of personnel within and outside the organization.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Self-motivated with strong customer-focused behavior.Attention to detail.Analytical skills.Organizational skills.Negotiation skills.Time management skills.Leadership abilities.Customer focus.Initiative.Problem-solving skills.Work Environment

The work environment is primarily office-based with some time spent in a warehouse setting. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm. The role involves checking emails, addressing questions from the sales team on existing products, providing quotes to the sales team, and occasionally speaking directly with customers for significant deals. The Applications Engineer mainly works with the Field Sales Team and directly with customers on requests and inquiries for new products, evaluating and matching product portfolios with proposals, and potentially managing custom builds if required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $105000.00
