Applications Engineer

Job Description

The Application Engineer is essential to the development and building of solutions and support for Renesas customers as key enabler of business expansion.

This position focuses on device operation and software design.

Working as a bridge between customers and engineering teams, Application Engineers use customer input and sales information to design or re-design, develop, test, and implement complex applications. The AE also provides technical support and expertise to customers, testing applications, responding to customer feedback, and performing demonstrations. It is important that the AE is fully capable to discuss requirements with Renesas customers, coordinate with internal Renesas developer teams, solve technical issues, and make suggestions for improving existing products. The Application Engineer is expected to have software expertise, leadership qualities, technical skills, time management skills, and have a customer service orientation.


Responsibilities

Develop supporting technical documents and application notesCreate custom solutions, example projects, and proof-of-concept designs to win new businessPrepare and present internal (sales and channel) and external (customer) technical trainingsProvide device support as referenced in the device Hardware ManualsUnderstand the needs of the customer (including commercial aspects) to help identify solutions for today and the futureAttend conferences, industry events or participate in internal training eventsHave a strong understanding of the company’s products and services as well as business position and competition to keep business competitiveUnderstand how the Automotive MCU products can be used to create systems at customersWork on individual projects to provide solutions, tools, documentation and knowledge to improve the usability of devices and software to set our customers up for success
 
Qualifications
Education: BSEE or MSEEExperience with Automotive customers and applications is desiredKnowledge of C, Python, Assembly programming skillsDemonstrated experience in developing MCU-based products/systemsHands-on system bring-up, testing, and debugging skillsAbility to analyze, debug, and solve a wide variety of technical problems.Experience designing or using embedded system development toolsHands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other standard lab equipmentStrong communication skillsAbility to manage complex projects and multi-taskCapable to communicate issues in a concise and effective way
