Summary – basic function of the role We are looking for an Applications Engineer with experience in Leak Sealing to join our team within the UK. Your role will provide technical knowledge to the sales process to match customers’ requirements with product solutions that the company can deliver profitably. Generate customer leads and enquiries. Act as project manager during the project execution, combined with providing technical expertise in the execution process. Job Duties and Responsibilities Engineered Solutions: Determines the application solution to satisfy best the customer’ requirements: standard products or existing designs; modifications to standard products or existing designs; completely new engineering designs Coordinates with design engineers to ensure quality and suitability of solution Applies costing and process design strategies in order to position the company in the early stages of project development to increase the probability of success – propose cost efficient and best practise solutions, maximising margin Carries out application checks, e.g. generate bolt and flange load calculations Proposal / Quotation: Reviews customer enquiries and determines the actual detailed technical and commercial requirement. (D) Works with sales and project engineers to develop proposals into final quotations for presentation to Customers Generates budgetary proposals (incl. cost estimation), process designs, General Arrangements (GAs) and final bid proposals Generates technical documentation in support of quotations Develops and supply the Marketing documentation required at the bid stage Sales Lead Generation: Assists the Sales Team with sales calls and design kick-off meetings Develops and maintains relationship with customers, on commercial as well as technical levels, to generate requests for quotation Actively presents the full product and service portfolio to the customers Project Management: Acts as overall project manager throughout the project, ensuring the specifications and customer requirements are fully met, from initial enquiry to execution Ensures accuracy and completeness of customer/product requirements for hand-off to Operations at contract review Develops and maintain a strong working relationship with the Engineering department, Production, Operations, HSSE in order to fulfill customer requirements and delivered projects on time Problem solving, in case of on-site issues Develops and supply the technical documentation required within the scope of the project Provides overview of costing data to finance for project invoicing Coordinates rental projects from delivery to return of equipment General: Participates actively and openly to (weekly) team meetings Supports short- and long-term forecasting process Travelling both domestic as international, if and when requested Skills and Competencies Strong commercial acumen required High sense of responsibility, flexibility, ability to work under high pressure, extraordinary diligence, solution-oriented way of working Energetic and proactive initiator; must present a professional and articulate image. Flexible and progressional approach to work. Education and Experience Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or MTS (Engineering) and 5 years of relevant work experience as an application engineer is desirable Experience Requirements: Knowledge of design standards, documentation and certification requirements of leak sealing applications Working knowledge of oil & gas industry, energy industry and preferably (petro) chemical industry Consolidated knowledge in project management, high intercultural awareness to work in international project teams Understanding of industrial (distribution) markets is considered a plus Pro-E/Autocad drawing skills, 2D and 3D drawings Work Benefits 25 days annual leave plus statutory days Sales Incentive Bonus Plan Employer Pension Contribution Life Assurance Engagement with Employee Resource Groups which can provide leadership and networking opportunities.
