Position Summary:

The main role of this position is to support Scientists and Researchers using Mass Spectrometry products in the ANZ region, both academic and applied markets. This includes pre- and post-sale activities, providing technical support, conducting customer demonstrations and sample analysis, and offering direct customer support on- and off-site. The LC-MS Applications Specialist will be based in VIC and strives to improve the customer experience, empowering them to advance their research in various fields. Regular communication with customers, troubleshooting, assisting with experimental design, and providing data analysis support are key responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage customer relationships from prospect to satisfied customerAssist in qualifying and preparing customer instrument demonstration requestsPerform customer instrument demonstrations and provide comprehensive reportsCommunicate effectively with sales colleagues and other relevant parties for organization of customer demonstrationsMonitor performance of LC-MS and related equipment and ensure proper functioningSupport LC-MS Product Specialists in critical sales situationsProvide technical support to customers and collaborators on-site and off-siteConduct training for customers on instrument installationsGather VOC (Voice of Customer) informationPresent scientific or technical posters and presentations at conferences and eventsTest and provide feedback on new applications, workflows, instruments, and software toolsCollaborate with other team members within the organizationCollaborate with HPLC/IC/SP specialists to improve demonstration performance of LC + LC-MS productsCollaborate with service engineers and management to resolve customer issues and support needsPerform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

PhD in Biochemistry or related fieldMinimum 5 years of LC-MS experienceUnderstanding of the role of LC-MS in specific marketsStrong analytical skillsProficiency in operating multiple LC-MS platformsExpert level operation and training in chromatographic and sample preparation software tools including: Tracefinder, Compound Discoverer, Proteome Discoverer, Xcalibur, LipidSearch, mzCloud.Must be proficient at operating, installing, maintaining and training to expert level in Thermo Fisher Scientific LC-MS platforms (TSQs and HRAM platforms).Expert knowledge of the following MS techniques: Proteomics, Metabolomics, MS imaging, Top down and Native MS, Quantitation in small molecule and OMICsGood communication and presentation skillsWillingness to travel up to 40%High motivation, self-organization, and dedicationAbility to work in direct and matrix organizationsEagerness to learn and embrace new challengesAdherence to OHS policies and procedures for a safe workplace environment
