We are looking for an Applied Computation Scientist for the Computational Analytics department at Sartorius Stedim Data Analytics AB.
In this role, your responsibility will be to leverage your curiosity, problem solving skills, and mathematical/statistical knowledge to ensure the success of our research into data analytics. You will work closely with cross-functional teams on a variety of topics to create new product opportunities.
This position is available for full-time. It is a hybrid role requiring some days on site at our site in Umea with the opportunity to work some days remotely.

Begin by developing algorithms and software to facilitate research into the next generation of bioprocess tools and products
Collaborate closely with other research scientists to understand their computational needs and translate these into efficient algorithms
Keeping up with the latest developments in software engineering, distributed computing and data management is essential to continually enhance our digital toolset
Additionally, contribute to the design and architecture of new internal software packages, with a focus on interoperability between packages
Implementing and maintaining databases, data processing pipelines, and APIs
Ensure code quality, maintainability and adherence to best practices through code reviews and thorough documentation
Finally, build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to align software development efforts with business objectives and user needs
What will convince us
A Master's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or equivalent academic qualifications is required, along with a background in physics-based simulation, scientific computing, high-performance computing or applied mathematics
Additionally, an interest or previous experience in the life science and biopharma field is advantageous
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a passion for tackling complex technical challenges are crucial
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment are essential for this role
An understanding of DevOps practices, including continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and automated testing, is important
Proficiency in Python is essential and skills in either a front-end language like JavaScript or a lower-level language such as Rust or C are preferred
Experience with database design, data modeling, and SQL/NoSQL technologies is also preferred
Familiarity with cloud computing environments like Azure, AWS or GCP and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is beneficial
