Position Announcement Position Details Proposed Start Date 09/16/2024 Working Title Applied Linguistics Adjunct Position - 2024/2025 Academic Year Department 221501 - LIN Linguistics Office Position Number D97747 Representation AP - AFT, Local 3571 Position Summary Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept The Department of Applied Linguistics has 10 faculty and more than 200 undergraduate and 60 graduate students. The department offers a BA in Applied Linguistics, post-baccalaureate Certificate in TESL, and MA in TESOL with a teaching track and an applied linguistics track. Courses include a wide range of topics in formal linguistics, applied linguistics, second language education, and cultural connections of language. Position Summary The Department of Applied Linguistics is seeking part-time Adjunct Instructors with the ability to teach lower and upper-division undergraduate courses and Master’s level courses during the academic year to meet curricular needs. In-person instruction is anticipated for 2022-23; however, the department also offers some online and hybrid courses. Minimum Qualifications - Master’s degree
- Some experience teaching linguistics courses Preferred Qualifications - PhD in applied linguistics, linguistics, or related field
- 2-3 years teaching courses in linguistics, applied linguistics, or language teaching education Key Cultural Competencies • Creates an environment that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates differences.
