PIC North America, a Genus Company, has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a highly motivated Applied Meat Science professional to join our team. This position is responsible for supporting PIC business interests via technical services to integrated customers and downstream industry participants. The successful candidate has the ability to work in a culturally diverse, fast-paced environment, work autonomously as well as collaboratively across functional teams, and is able to identify, analyze and solve problems in a self-directed/managed work location.

 

The preferred location for the position is Hendersonville, TN. For the right individual hybrid or a remote working arrangement with travel may be considered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide technical services to pork companies in all areas including carcass grading, quality definition and measurement, food safety, and other technical areas as needed.Support and assist PIC sales teams through data collection, information transfer, and customer support to enhance PIC price-to-value strategy.Collect information on the “downstream” pork chain for contribution to new PIC genetic line development and business growth focused on value-added food companies and niche market players.Evaluate PIC products against industry benchmarks within downstream customer systems.Manage PIC meats-related research projects including design, and data collection from PIC trials and from collaborative research projects. Some data analysis required.Produce detailed reports pertaining to product/program research and implementation.Remain current in area of responsibility through establishing a network of industry & academic contacts, studying literature, and attending scientific/industry meetings.Travel approximately 60%, both domestic and international Hold confidential all product and program proprietary knowledge. Requirements

Basic Qualifications: (required)

University Degree in Meat or Animal Science with solid meat science background OR 3+ years of experience working in all aspects of meat/food science industry, including pork carcass composition, protein chemistry, pork processing and product development, food safety, and the influence of growth and development, genetics, nutrition, and other environmental factors on final product quality.A minimum of one year of experience with the technology and economics of pork production as it relates to the pork supply chain including meat and meat products manufacturing and commercial value. A minimum of 2 years of experience communicating with stakeholders at various levels within academia and/or industry A minimum of 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite as well as D365 and Power BI 

Preferred Qualifications:
