As an Illinois Electric Apprentice Lineman and future Journeyman Lineman your role in creating Ameren’s customer experience and driving customer satisfaction is crucial to our success. Ameren Illinois is a regulated electric and gas delivery company based in Collinsville, Illinois. Our service territory spans 43,700 square miles, or about three-quarters of the state. Every day, we deliver electricity to 1.2 million electric and 812,000 natural gas customers in more than 1,200 communities in central and southern Illinois. **Duties** : + Under immediate supervision, working on a line construction or maintenance crew in the capacity of an apprentice for advancement to Journeyman Lineman + Advance in such workin accordance with an orderly program, initially on unenergized circuits, and later on work on energized circuits ranging progressively from lower to maximum voltage + Perform such work at first under the leadership of a Crew Leader or Line Foreman, and later independently after ability to perform each phase of the work skillfully and safely has been demonstrated; and to do similar and less skilled work as assigned. + Load and unload equipment, material, job site debris and maintain housekeeping according to Ameren’s safety standards and procedures + Dig trenches and holes in an ergonomically safe manner + Perform construction work in the field, in all weather conditions, throughout the service territory + Use and maintain various hand and power tools and equipment + Must work in a team environmentMust work safely at all times as defined by Ameren's safety standards and procedures + Develop and maintain familiarity with the operation and maintenance of the boom truck, digger and bucket truck and various pulling units + Assist in digging holes and setting poles + Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle + Operate equipment and hydraulic tamp + Prepare materials for each project including cutouts, arrestors and transformers + Load and unload vehicles + Prepare vehicles for daily projects + Clean cover up materials, repair, clean and inspect tools on the vehicles + Assist with material stocking, pulling of stock for projects + Must not be afraid of heights + Ability to maintain the security of confidential information + Stay abreast of advances in technology **Qualifications:** + As a condition of acceptance on this job, candidates who are otherwise qualified will be required to take and pass the appropriate State/Federal driver's licensing requirements, medical testing and drug screening, the Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) test and the company apprentice Lineman Evaluations.
