Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for a motivated and self-starting Maintenance Technician-Facilities Apprentice. This is an Apprenticeship opportunity within Ariens for someone who has maintenance knowledge and skills. The apprenticeship is focused on developing increased skills in the field of maintenance.

This apprenticeship is expected to lead to a Journeyworker status within facilities maintenance.  As with all of our Journeyworker positions at the AriensCo, this position will be expected to effectively coach, teach, solve technical problems and support new processes and applications related to the specific skill area.

THE DAY TO DAY...

Safe operation of machines and tools

Live and promote the Ariens Core Values and 15 Principles

Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures

Repair and maintain electrical and mechanical facilities equipment.

Maintain and Troubleshoot HVAC equipment, including Roof top exhaust fans, MAU’s, Mini split units, Gas trains, and RT combo’s

Read and interpreting schematics to troubleshoot and install equipment.

Completing preventative, corrective, and unplanned maintenance tasks.

Adhering to plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures while supporting the vision of creating an environment where no one can ever get hurt.

Communicating with all levels of the organization, i.e., via reports, e-mail, verbally, and/or in small/large group settings, in a team environment.

Accurately carry out and assist in the development of preventative maintenance procedures.

Support and develop downtime reduction initiatives.

Repairs and lubricates facilities equipment

Complete preventative and total productive maintenance

Participation in Apprenticeship related instruction at Local Technical College

THE QUALIFICATIONS...

High school diploma or equivalent is required, must meet minimum entrance requirements of community college

Enrollment in a HVAC Basics certification through NWTC, or an approved alternative education provider and certification, is required

Must be at least 18 years of age

Minimum 6 months of Maintenance experience required

Commitment to be able and willing to work on the shift posted for an extended period, through apprenticeship and beyond

Commitment to the education portion of the Apprentice program to be able to pass exams and classroom education

Strong language, mathematical, reasoning, and computer skills needed

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

Ability to work as part of a team and work independently

Successfully complete classroom portion of State Apprenticeship

Must be able to work with basic mathematical computation

Must have knowledge of blueprint; prior training is helpful but will accept on-the-job experience in lieu of formal training

Basic Computer skills including Microsoft office and CMMS maintenance software

THE WORK ENVIRONMENT...

Able to frequently walk, sit and use hands to handle or feel

Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 10 hours per day and ability to lift up to 35 lbs

Able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally

Must be physically capable of performing the essential duties and responsibilities of the apprenticeship program with or without reasonable accommodations

Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment
