The Division drives profitability by leveraging its innovative solutions and application engineering.  In addition to ITW’s industry leading research and development capabilities, StampTech Fasteners TM enhances our customers’ competitive advantage by maintaining advanced engineering and manufacturing facilities in North America, exchanging product, process, and benchmarking information with sister units worldwide and continually improving processes, material, and designs to ensure every product provides value and meets customer expectations. **Job Summary** This position will be a trainee who learns to perform basic maintenance and repair tasks on industrial machinery under the close supervision of a skilled journeyman machinist. While gaining hands-on experience with various machine tools like lathes, mills, and grinders. Also studying theory and safety procedures to eventually become a fully qualified maintenance machinist. Responsibilities include assisting with machine disassembly, cleaning, part replacement, basic machining operations, and following detailed instructions to ensure proper equipment. **Key Responsibilities** + Follow all established safety, health and company policies, procedures, housekeeping and recognized practices + Help disassemble, clean, and reassemble machinery, including removing and replacing worn parts under guidance from a journeyman machinist + Learn to operate manual and potentially CNC machine tools like lathes, mills, drills, and grinders to perform basic machining operations like cutting, turning, and drilling. + Interpret blueprints and schematics to understand machine components and repair requirements. + Diagnose machine failures and other mechanical problems. Take necessary corrective repair action in a timely manner + Keep track of spare parts and tools needed for maintenance tasks + Operate production equipment as required + Ensuring products meet quality standards and make necessary adjustments + All other duties as assigned by manager **Minimum Qualifications/Requirements** + 3-5 years of industrial experience or enrollment in the Apprenticeship Program from an accredited vocational/technical institute + Strong understanding of basic mechanical principles and ability to visualize how machines work + Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices + Effectively communicate in a professional demeanor when dealing with any level of employees + Demonstrate good problem-solving skills and possess communication skills + Ability to perform basic calculations related to measurements and dimensions. + Ability to work overtime **Physical Demands** **& Work Environment** + The physical demand described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
