Successfully completes Monitor Tech apprenticeship program training including: Hospital orientation Hospital-approved arrhythmia course – (3) 8-hour didactic learning sessions with arrhythmia educator(s) including review session and testing session on day 3 BLS training course provided by SRHS One-on-one orientation with monitor tech for skills assessment and validation for at least (9) 12-hour shifts utilizing orientation validation tools (OVT) as a guide. Trainees will orient on AM and/or PM shifts EPIC training for monitor techs One-on-one nurse leader rounding sessions at 7- and 21- days to assess progress toward OVT goals Performs Secretary Duties such as phone skills, faxing, printing Basic Computer Skills Knowledgeable in use of and response to Code Alert Identifies areas for improvement and seeks ways to work on self-defined weaknesses Remains committed to unit, department, and division goals Attends continuing education classes for improvement offered at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System as assigned by leadership Reports risk management concerns to appropriate person Adheres to proper chain of command. Serve as an information resource for staff Maintains visual checks on monitors constantly until relieved by a qualified person Monitors are observed continuously, and the patient’s rhythm is documented on flow sheet every eight (8) hours to include date, time, rate, rhythm, PR interval, QRS duration, rhythm interpretation, ST analysis. Assures that alarms are maintained in the “ON” position at all times. Reports mechanical difficulties to the appropriate person and follows up as necessary. Reports any life-threatening rhythms or rhythms of significant change immediately to the nurse. Notifies RN promptly when procedures are performed, i.e., removal of epicardial wires, pacemaker interrogation, etc. Ensure individual telemetry units are cleaned after each use. Admit and discharge patients from system in a timely manner. Ensures proper disposition of completed flowsheets and any other patient records Maintains adequate supply of monitoring equipment. Routinely reviews rhythm strips and the patient’s condition with the nurse in a timely manner Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information as required by HIPAA Other Duties as assigned
