40 hours per week Apprentice Nursery Practitioner Job Description A nursery in Windsor are looking for a Apprentice Nursery Practitioner to join their team to work towards an Early Years Educator Level 2 or 3 Qualification.

The role is 40 hours per week.

Salary is apprentice wage.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Professional Behaviour

You must ensure that;

1. You act as an ambassador for Countryside Nurseries ensuring that you behave in a professional manner at all times.

2. You are punctual and reliable.

3. Your personal appearance is clean and smart and that you maintain good personal hygiene.

4. You have suitable clothing to engage in outdoor play with children.

5. You are approachable and welcoming to staff, parents and children.

6. You show proper respect for Senior Staff and Managers and comply with all reasonable instructions of the Room Leader and Nursery Manager.

7. You work effectively as part of the Nursery team.

8. You communicate clearly with staff, parents and other visitors ensuring that you pass on messages promptly and that you direct enquiries to a person who can deal with them.

9. You discuss all aspects of the day with your room leader to ensure that information is shared and in order to support your own learning and development.

10. Treat all matters concerning the children, parents, staff and business of the Nursery as confidential whilst ensuring that any concerns you may have are reported appropriately (for example following the Safeguarding or Whistleblowing policy).

11. To attend and actively participate in regular room and staff meetings.

12. Familiarise yourself with and follow the Nursery Routines and procedures.

13. You are familiar with and implement the company policies and procedures at all times.

14. Ensure that you are aware of who is responsible, as the designated person, for H&S, Safeguarding and SEND and which staff members are First Aiders.


Childcare and Education

In order to support children's learning and development you must:

1. Be sensitive to the individual needs of all the children in your care.

2. Respond to children to help them to feel safe, secure and happy.

3. Ensure that you listen to children and engage in conversations with them and that you are also sensitive to their non-verbal communication.

4. Engage in children's play indoors and outdoors.

5. Plan and deliver activities for children with supervision from your mentor or qualified staff members.


Health and Safety

You must ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care by;

1. Being familiar with and implementing Countryside Nurseries Health and Safety policies and procedures.

2. Complying with the nursery risk assessments in order to minimise accidents.

3. Reporting all accidents to the room leader and ensuring that an accident form is completed.

4. Ensure the rooms are left clean and tidy at the end of each day.

5. Looking after toys and equipment and storing them safely.

6. Maintaining good hygiene at all times, by cleaning up spills, or after mealtimes or messy activities.

7. Washing and sterilising toys and equipment as directed by the Room Leader.

8. Removing broken or damaged toys or equipment from the children's rooms and informing the Nursery Manager.

9. Reporting any hazards to the Nursery Manager.


Training

We wish to support you through your apprenticeship programme to enable you to achieve your Early Years Educator Qualification.

We will;

Assign a Mentor to you. Your Mentor is the named person in the nursery in whom you can confide throughout your training. Your Mentor can build a relationship with the Training Provider's Tutor in order to plan your learning. Your Mentor will make sure there is good communication between you, the Nursery and your Tutor. Your Mentor will be already qualified to a higher level than the course which you are undertaking.

We will give you the opportunity to complete coursework and learn from your working environment.

We will complete a Progress Review every 8 weeks or as specified by the training provider for the duration of your course to discuss your learning and progress.

You must;

1. Access your learning programme every week whether that is by attending college or accessing online learning.

2. Ensure that you meet deadlines for learning plans, work tasks or assignments set by your training provider.

3. Notify both your training provider and the Nursery Manager if you cannot meet any of your training deadlines or requirements or should you decide to take a break or withdraw from your apprenticeship.
