THE JOB:

As an Apprentice Property Engineer at MGM Springfield, you will play a key role in supporting the maintenance engineering team by assisting with daily operations and activities. This position involves providing both administrative and technical support as directed by department management, allowing you to gain hands-on experience in property maintenance and engineering within a dynamic entertainment environment. Your contributions will help ensure the smooth functioning of facilities and enhance the overall guest experience at the venue.

STARTING RATE: $22.00 per hour

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

Maintenance duties encompass a wide range of tasks, including carpentry, wallpaper installation, tiling, flooring, painting, and repairs related to electrical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, and kitchen equipment.Proficiency in working with precision measuring devices, circuit diagrams, and mechanical blueprintsHaving an advanced understanding of emergency procedures within a facility involves familiarity with evacuation plans, fire safety protocols, and first aid measures, ensuring preparedness for any crisis. A thorough comprehension of hotel rules and regulations, including OSHA safety standards, is essential for maintaining a safe environment for both guests and staff, as it promotes compliance with health and safety regulations while minimizing risks of accidents or injuries.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Ability to read and interpret precise measuring instrumentsWorking knowledge of blueprints and wiring schematicsPossess trade specific skills as described in the responsibilities/duties aboveAble to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal formsAbility to read and writeGeneral knowledge of mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and divisionBasic knowledge of computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e. telephone, copier, fax machineExcellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints and within established deadlines, with particular attention to detailEffective listening abilities with strong judgment skillsExcellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contactsMaintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to company standardsCan work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays
