Program Summary

KBR maintains and manages Army prepositioned stocks at the Army Field Support Battalion - Charleston (AFSBn-CHS) land site and aboard ship to include all logistics and maintenance operations. The KBR APS-3 Program is managed and executed at Goose Creek in support of the Army’s power projection doctrine and resources.  The contract provides maintenance of APS-3 stocks (Class II, IIIP, IV, VII, IX) to ensure that unit sets stored aboard marine vessels are configured and maintained at optimal readiness. KBR provides limited maintenance and supply support aboard ship to ensure that equipment sets are maintained in a ready condition for emergency download and issue to operating units at the direction of the US Army. KBR also provides maintenance services and logistical support for other Army programs, IAW individual scope of work contract requirements.

Job Summary

This Emergency Essential (EE) position is in the KBR Maintenance Ops Department for the APS-3 program, located at the Goose Creek Naval Weapons Station, Joint Base Charleston.

This position works directly for the Maintenance Manager, is supervised by the assistant manager, and supports a staff of an assistant manager and nine subordinate supervisors.  The Administrative Assistant can be expected to perform all of the typical duties per the SCA description above, and specifically will have responsibilities of:

Preparing, analyzing, and submitting department deliverables to include staffing reports, contract performance reports, contract required documents, production briefing slides, and formatted data on spreadsheets. 

Performs office management responsibilities to include maintaining visual management systems for the department manager.

Maintaining schedules, calendars, and office supplies

Assists the manager and assistant manager with staffing actions, including preparation of materials for interviews and preparation of documents for selections. 

Roles and Responsibilities

Provide principal secretarial support in an office supporting FAMs in the Maintenance Department.

Maintain a close and highly responsive relationship to the day-to-day activities of the manager and staff, works fairly independently receiving a minimum of detailed supervision and guidance.

Perform various clerical and secretarial duties requiring knowledge of office routine and an understanding of the organization, programs, and procedures related to the work of the office.

Respond to routine telephone requests that have standard answers and refer calls and visitors to appropriate staff.

Control emails and ensure timely staff response and send form letters.

Maintain managers calendar, schedule appointments, and arrange for meeting rooms.

Review materials prepared for manager's approval for typographical accuracy and proper format.

Maintain recurring internal reports, such as time and leave records, office equipment listings, correspondence controls, deployment manning and training plans.

Requisition supplies, printers, maintenance, or other services.

Type, take and transcribe dictation, create, and maintain office files.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Must be able to achieve Trustworthy Determination resulting from National Agency Check (Background Investigation) with waiver within thirty (30) days of hire.

Must have a high School diploma or equivalent.

Must have at least 2 years related experience.

Must have strong computer skills: excellent working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Power Point.

Must have excellent multi-tasking skills, ability to perform to standard several time-sensitive tasks simultaneously, ability to prioritize work.

Requires excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.

Must be able to interact professionally with all levels of employees, supervisors, leads, managers and customers.

Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently.

Must have a valid State issued Driver’s License.

Must be able to operate government owned vehicles (sedan, club cart, small pick-up trucks).

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand - between 2 to 3 hours per day.

Must be able to walk - between 4 to 5 hours per day.

Must be able to Lift - up to 35 lbs. – 50 lbs. periodically.

Must be able to squat, knell, bend, reach and climb periodically.

Must be able to work outside and inside in non-climate-controlled environments.

Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

GCSS Army knowledge preferred.

Exhibits professional maturity. Must be trusted to handle sensitive employee information discreetly

Initiative, proactive and predictive thinking, strong work ethic, requiring minimal supervision

Detail oriented, strong follow-through, and ability to work with multiple deadlines.

Coordination, prioritization, organization, and office management skills.

Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products

Analytical ability and solid understanding of business administration practices.

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to be adaptable and maintain professional relationships

AWRDS and Deltek experience a plus

Prior experience in maintenance or production related environments a plus.

Our workforce is paid hourly based on a guaranteed 40-hour work week; the daily schedule is from 6:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday-Thursday (work hours are determined by the hiring manager).

For hourly employees, the premium overtime is paid at time and a half.

The APS-3 daily schedule is a 4-day workweek with the potential for overtime during high-demand missions.

The APS-3 standard workweek schedule is from 6:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday-Thursday with possible overtime of up to 8 hours (as the mission demands).

The APS-3 workforce receives 11 Federal Holidays per year in addition to earned paid time off.
