Aquatic/Health & Wellness Recreation Coordinator Print (https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/alpharetta/jobs/newprint/4752747) Apply  Aquatic/Health & Wellness Recreation Coordinator Salary $20.00 - $25.00 Hourly Location Park & Cultural Services, GA Job Type Temporary Job Number 2024-00247 Department Recreation, Parks & Cultural Services Division Aquatics Opening Date 12/06/2024 Closing Date Continuous + Description + Benefits Job Summary & General Information Under general direction of the Recreation Supervisor II, creates, develops, and oversees innovative Health and Wellness programs, including but not limited to adaptive and senior programs, paid and free fitness classes, walk and run groups, youth enrichment classes and camps, educational workshops, special events; establishes and foster relationship with community partners. Assists with the seasonal Aquatics programming and swim team. **This is a Temp P/T position.** Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities + Work with a team to create, develop, and oversee aquatics and Health & Wellness programming to include swim teams, swim lessons, senior swim, aquatics fitness, adaptive and senior programs, paid and free fitness classes, walk and run groups, kids’ enrichment classes and camps, educational workshops, and special events. + Establish and foster relationships with community partners. + Perform administrative and marketing duties including, but not limited to maintaining the Health and Wellness calendar, inputting information into ActiveNet, submitting activity guide information, social media marketing, writing news releases, creating marketing collateral, handling volunteer and contractor legalities + Coordinates daily work activities; organizes and prioritizes work; monitors status of work in progress and evaluates completed work; accomplishes the department’s mission and goals by adhering to established policies, procedures and guidelines and setting a positive example. + Ensures adherence to established safety procedures. + Plans, coordinates, and schedules assigned activities and events; monitors enrollment and vendor contracts; prepares vendor pay requests/reports; develops informational and operational handbooks as needed for parents, volunteers, vendors and participants; conducts organizational meetings pertaining to activities. + Performs marketing of activities and events to the public including preparing flyers, posters and mailings; sends emails; prepares/submits press releases for distribution to local media; submits information for department e-newsletter and status updates for social media to supervisor; promotes community awareness, interest, and participation in activities and events to individuals, groups, organizations, and businesses. + Takes photographs of activities and events for inclusion in department marketing materials; prepares information for department leisure guide. + Assists supervisor in recommending policies, developing program and facility maintenance standards, and ensuring adherence to established guidelines; monitors inventory of equipment and supplies; makes recommendations to supervisor for purchase of major activity/event equipment and supplies. Purchases basic equipment and supplies for activity/event. + Handles questions from the public regarding department activities and events; receives and addresses complaints/comments in person via email or telephone. + Coordinates facility reservations and processes facility rentals by groups, organizations, and businesses as assigned. + Facilitates communication and collaboration between department and community groups, youth associations, schools, civil organizations, etc. + Works with other City departments and other agencies to facilitate various activities and events. + Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws, standards, rules, and regulations; maintains an awareness of new trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature. + Serve as on-call contact for certain weekend/off-hours in the event of an emergency at the pool and weekend pop-up Health and Wellness events. + Performs related duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications + High school diploma or GED equivalency. + Two years previous experience performing general administrative and program coordination work in similar types of programs or technical area to which assigned. + Must be willing to work varying hours, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays assigned. + Knowledge of First Aid safety practices + Possession of a valid Georgia Class C driver’s license.
