Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking an Archaeological Lab Technician to join our collaborative and innovative Cultural Resources team. Responsibilities include: Artifact washing and labeling Data entry and database management Preparation of collections for final curation using state – or repository-specific guidelines, under the direction of the Collections Coordinator and Lab Manager Assist with collection deliveries Executing the company’s laboratory and reporting methodologies May also assist with archaeological fieldwork, artifact research, and public outreach if desired and as workloads allow The successful candidate will have: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in anthropology, archaeology, or closely related field At least four months of related experience in a cultural resource management, academic or similar setting A valid driver’s license The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following: Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain an organized approach to work Ability to work with limited supervision Working knowledge of standard archaeological laboratory methods Basic knowledge of the material culture of the mid-Atlantic region Attention to detail, including an aptitude for recognizing inconsistencies Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Access and Excel Ability to lift 40 pounds, examine small artifacts and other materials up to 8 hours per day, read and/or write small numbers and letters legibly up to 8 hours per day Ability to occasionally travel overnight (less than 5 percent) If you have strong communication and organizational skills, are self-motivated, and can work well both independently and as part of a team, complete the online application process for this job posting at www.meadhunt.com/careers.
