**Your Opportunity**
Stantec seeks an experienced Archaeologist to join our growing cultural resources team in Minnesota. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Minnesota State Statute 138 and Environmental Assessment Worksheet/Alternative Urban Areawide Review (EAW/AUAR) regulations, as well as demonstrated expertise in Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance.
This position supports our environmental consulting practice, with a primary focus on proposal development and regulatory compliance. Working under the direction of our Senior Archaeologist, you will assist in managing cultural resource assessments, contribute to technical proposals, and handle permitting requirements for diverse clients across the Midwest and Great Lakes regions. The role includes both office-based work, and participation in field investigations as needed. Experience with cultural resource projects in Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Iowa is valuable, though not required.
Location:
While based in the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro areas, projects include a mix of local and out of town field projects. Candidates living across the Upper Midwest are encouraged to apply.
**Your Key Responsibilities**
+ Develop and write technical proposals, including scope development, budgeting, and scheduling.
+ Navigate permitting processes and provide guidance on regulatory compliance requirements.
+ Under the direction of the Senior Archaeologist, coordinate cultural resource investigations across various sectors, including utilities (power and gas), transportation, renewable energy, and local government projects.
+ Participate in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) initiatives.
**Qualifications**
**Your Capabilities and Credentials**
Technical Skills and Experience:
+ Minimum 2 years of experience in cultural resource project management, particularly in the Upper Midwest.
+ Experience with all phases of archaeological investigation and documentation.
+ Expertise in digital data collection methods and GIS applications including ESRI Field Maps and Survey 123.
Project Management:
+ Demonstrated success in proposal writing and project execution.
+ Strong knowledge of cultural resource permitting requirements and regulatory frameworks.
+ Experience managing projects in utilities, transportation, or renewable energy sectors.
+ Track record of successful project delivery and team leadership.
Professional Qualities:
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
+ Strong professional network in cultural resources field.
+ Self-awareness and good judgment in seeking senior staff guidance.
+ Disciplined approach to project execution.
Physical Requirements:
+ Ability to walk 4 to 10 miles daily over rough terrain.
+ Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
+ Valid driver's license with clean record and ability to travel between project sites and Plymouth office.
+ Ability to travel for fieldwork, sometimes for extended periods.
**Education and Experience**
+ Bachelor’s degree in anthropology/archaeology or related discipline.
+ Completion of an archaeological field school and at least five years of CRM experience as an archaeologist.
+ Demonstrated positive reputation and relationships with agencies and environmental regulators.
+ Expertise in Upper Midwest archaeology and field methodology.
Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. When conducting non-local fieldwork, paid travel time, per diem, and single occupancy hotel rooms are provided. Stantec fleet or rental cars are often provided. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):
**Salary Range(s):**
* $61,200 for locations in MN - $88,700 for locations in MN Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in MN, NYC/NY
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
