Edwards-Pitman Inc., a Braun InterTech Company, is seeking undergraduate students studying Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field for Spring 2025 at our Smyrna, GA office for a paid internship in Cultural Resource Management, specializing in archaeology. Participants will have the chance to get hands-on experience in Cultural Resource Management fieldwork and laboratory work.
Compensation $19.50/hr
$500 sign-on bonus upon commitment to completing internship with us.
Per diem and lodging will be given on out-of-town projects.
What you Will Accomplish:
Hands on experience with surveying and site recording methods in a Cultural Resource Management Setting.Introduction to Precontact era and Historic period artifact identification.Opportunities to participate in various types of Cultural Resource Management fieldwork, including, but not limited to Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) survey standards.Coordination with academic staff to meet course credit requirements.Learn Cultural Resource Management archaeological laboratory skills, as well as the process of curation and the standards set forth by the University of West Georgia and other curation facilities.Responsibilities:
Interact with field technicians and crew chiefs both in field and office tasks, such as assisting in shovel testing and site identification.Interact with lab technicians, the Lab Coordinator, and Lab Director while assisting in various laboratory tasks, such as artifact washing, labeling, and other specified laboratory duties.Work in both indoor and outdoor settings in accordance with Cultural Resource Management standards set forth by Edwards-Pitman and their clients.Required Skills:
Strong Communication SkillsGood Listening SkillsFollows DirectionsWorks well independently and in a team setting.Ability to walk and conduct fieldwork for long periods of time (e.g walking up to 5 miles), over rugged terrain, carrying equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds. Fieldwork may also be conducted during inclement weather.Minimum Experience and Education:
Must be enrolled in an undergraduate at a college or university pursuing a bachelor’s degree.Significant progress towards a bachelor’s degree. This internship is for rising Juniors or Seniors seeking an internship program.Flexible schedule as this position will require in-state travel.Archaeology field school is preferred, but not required.Valid driver's license and acceptable driving recordBraun Intertec, is a Drug-Free Workplace and require all new hires to complete a pre-employment drug screen test, criminal background check, and motor vehicle history report.
